Steam Summer Sale games you might’ve missed
The Steam Summer sale is here again, and there’s a lot of sales on big games like The Witcher 3, but here are some great games, old and new, that you might have missed:
Spelunky - $2.24 - In the running for my favorite game of all time. It’s a 2D adventure platformer roguelike from cool dude Derek Yu. A platformer that really encourages you to improve your skills to progress instead of handing you upgrades to lower the difficulty.
Downwell - $1.49 - A second 2D roguelike platformer on the list. Downwell’s simple controls and graphics hide a complex and difficult game. It challenges your reflexes and timing, but nailing long combos feels very rewarding.
Absolute Drift - $4.79 - A top-down racing game all about drifting. Forgiving but very fun physics are rewarding to master. Gorgeous art style and superb music. Leaderboards keep you wanting to get better.
Monaco - $2.09 - A co-op heist game. Steal treasure, avoid guards, blow up walls. Incredible with friends. Buy that 4-pack and gift copies to your friends.
Xeodrifter -$0.99 - A short but sweet Metroid-like adventure. Doesn’t have a lot of depth, but it’s over before it gets old.
Helldivers - $9.99 - A co-op, space marine, top-down shooter. Blow up aliens with your friends while trying not to kill them (friendly fire is on, and usually ends in hilarity). It gave me great Left 4 Dead feels.
Luftrausers - $2.49 - 2D, arcade, fighter-plane shooter. Clever and fun game mechanics with simple controls. Killer soundtrack and art design.
VA-11 Hall-A - $10.04 - Cyberpunk, Bartending Visual Novel. The story is engaging and it’s fun getting to know all the characters as well as the protagonist. Very chill game to relax with. Another great soundtrack.
Furi - $9.99 - Genre-bending action, bullet-hell, sword-fighting game. It feels like a series of boss fights straight out of Platinum games, but with its own style. Very hard.
