“Why did you stop writing poetry?”

You were sincere in asking with just a hint of wanting to get personal. Nice touch, I gotta hand it to you. I was caught a bit off-guard and my mind started careening into some distant time ago.

Poetry…was a past for me. I really wanted to tell you. It has been so long already, perhaps I forgot how to do rhythms and bars. I chose to forget to measure. I drifted into free-verse until it gently landed unto prose. Prose became a comfort. It still is. Maybe I’ll do free-verse again soon, who knows. In the mean time, we’ll both have to make do with the form streaming out from my phone’s notepad to your screen.

Why did I stop writing poetry.

Too bad I already had a prepared answer for that.

What I did tell you is truth.

What I’m telling you here is another.

napagkatuwaan ko lang gawin hetong mga pangalan ng cousins tska auntie ko since there’s nothing much i could do around the house. getting in touch with the right-hemisphere of my brain. chos lang. marunong din pala ako gumawa kahit mejo nga mahirap ang pagcontrol sa media na ginamit. tas ayun, muntikan na din pala akong mabugbog nung blender kanina pero di bale masarap pa din naman ang banana shake. 😅☺

I huffed my annoyance away. But then you rested your arm on the back of the monoblock chair I was sitting on, and *sighs* I couldn’t remember anything else from then on.
