five times kissed
send me five times kissed for a drabble about five times our muses kissed
The first time was as little girls and Astrid didn’t even think about it. It was something she would forget about within minutes. Her tiny frame bounced in excitement, teeth over her bottom lip, and fingers squeezing the taller girl’s hand tightly. A small squeal squeezed out of her throat, and in an instant her lips were pressed to Ruffnut’s cheek, warm and soft but nothing more than a friend. In that same second, she giggled, and left the other in a sprint towards whatever had made her so excited — naturally, she couldn’t remember that either. The second was clearer. Dragons were becoming more prominent in their lives, and Astrid was teetering on the edge of fighting being all she focused on. Her thoughts were on anything but dragons right then. As a young girl, she found herself starting to bloom feelings for people. She didn’t like Snotlout but she knew she was supposed to - she liked his muscles and his viking-esque appearance, but she didn’t like his attitude. Ruffnut was a different story. She was Astrid’s best friend, she was funny and loud and confident and great. And she was pretty. When she asked to kiss her, it was under the excuse that they’d have to kiss boys someday so it was best if they were each other’s first kiss. Because they were best friends. She was surprised (pleasantly so) when Ruffnut agreed. She wasn’t soft but Astrid wasn’t expecting her to be. It wasn’t a long kiss, it wasn’t passionate or longing but she wasn’t expecting any of that. It was several long seconds of chapped lips and neither knowing what to do. When they pulled away, they laughed and Astrid learned that she really liked kissing her.The third was drunk, all heavy breaths, groping, hiding, and laughing. Astrid, whether she was a teen or an adult (though she was sixteen at this point) was never a fan of alcohol, so to get her drunk was an accomplishment. She could only assume that Ruff was just as much. She wasn’t sure what they’d gone out for, but she knew that it wasn’t to kiss. Yet there they were, with the Hofferson girl pressed to the wall, slim arms wrapped around Ruffnut’s neck. The celebrations inside the Great Hall were all background noise to the blonde’s breath in her mouth and tongue on her lips and fingers in her hair. There was a loud crash from inside followed by swearing that Astrid could have sworn was Tuffnut, and her lips quirked involuntarily. She tried to push it down and keep her composure with Ruffnut’s hand on her hip but she couldn’t, and it wasn’t long before she laughed loudly, forehead pressed to her shoulder and bodies close together. The fourth kiss was much like the first except it was desperate, scared, and relieved instead of elated. Still, it was quick and almost like being punched in the mouth. With another mouth. This time Astrid remembered it.An ache pulsed through her head, a groan passing through the twenty year old’s lips as the darkness slowly ebbed out of her vision. She couldn’t remember anything at first, aside from flying Stormfly. The ocean was the first sound she heard and the dirt was the first thing she felt. She squinted past the bright lights dotting her vision, and then she heard Ruffnut calling her name, then entering her sight - a silhouette in the blinding light until she focused. She was dimly aware of asking what happened as she sat up, but couldn’t get the sentence out before she felt chapped lips on her own. There wasn’t nearly enough time for her to respond, but with the way her head spun, she wasn’t sure if she could respond if they’d been kissing for hours. She was aware of her yelling at her not to be an idiot but all she truly remembered was the kiss. The fifth (but not the last) would be when the girls were married, days after her own wedding, and the whole village may have even known about them, but they certainly weren’t married to one another. That didn’t stop them and neither of them really expected it to. Astrid wouldn’t have even been surprised had Ruffnut shown up on her wedding night and kicked her husband out of the bed.Their fingers tangled together under the table, while eating dinner and chatting with friends above. One by one, villagers left the Hall. The place wasn’t really empty but enough so that Ruffnut thought she could get away with leaning and brushing her lips over the shorter girl’s cheek. There may have even been an I love you but who really remembers such casual things?
