Shane was drunk again, "A crazy alcoholic who can't seem to remember screwing over his best friend right?" He supposed this was the reason Negan told him to stay away from Rick, clearly Shane didn't listen well, Moonshine made his memory bad.

    This isn’t about him.

    Insecurities about what he’ll amount to aren’t typical for Rick. His concerns are always pointed outside of himself, directed at those who he sees a future for, that he worries about the stability of that future for. His children, his people, the family that relies on him -- Rick’s become more than he’s ever wanted. He longs for simplicity.

    Even if he’s too stubborn to even allow that of himself. There’s a sympathetic furrow of his brow as he listens to Shane, but after a brief shake of his head, he acknowledges him more seriously. 

    ❝ It ain’t out of your control, Shane. Some things might be, but if y’take your hand off that moonshine for more than a few hours, y’might see things different. Might take a long time, might be somethin’ harder than you’d like, but you bein’ an alcoholic, Shane? Y’need to fix that. Y’need to let the bottle go. ❞

    A soft grunt answers the needle pulled through skin, the fingers of his right hand flexing instinctively, distracting.

    Some days, he wonders if he’s not a conglomerate of bullet holes, riddled into an eventual bloodied sack of meat -- a soldier with no other purpose.

    He wonders when the aches will settle in beyond his bones, the reminder of each fight, of each time gunfire answered his, of each time that bullets pierced armor and openings. This time, the bullet had lodged itself in his upper arm, a fact that he’d been able to ignore until a few minutes before when the pain caught up. He leans back against the chair, eyes flickering to her work on his wound.

    ❝ It looks worse than it is, ❞ he promises, breaking his silence. ❝ --But thank you. ❞

She went back over her tone replaying the words in her mind, trying to figure out where he could take insult, she gave him an odd look, “Like it’s not something I find acceptable because I’ll light a bitch on fire if they’re still hovering around you like flies on honey, because that’s the tone I was going for…” she decided to go for clarification rather than questioning him as to where the insult happened, she reached out and wrapped her hand around one of his. 

           【 ₦Ɇ₲₳₦ 】― Even now it was hard to shake the voices inside his head. It was small things , certain words and phrases that got them stirred up and roaring inside his head. He’d think the woman sitting in front of him would have been proof enough to silence them for good , but they were still there ― still clawing at his brain making him defensive where there was no need to be.  ❝ Ooo , ooo , that’s what you meant. ❞ He laughed bring a hand up ― fingers rubbing the bottom of his chin. Though his body gets a little stiff when she reaches out wrapping her hand around his. It’s a hard concept to grasp .. how someone like her could be attracted to someone like him.

Sure, new people appeared in the city all the time, even in his neighborhood, but for the most part they were either fresh-made orphans or those looking to exploit them.  Without word of newcomers, Blake’s hackles were up at the sight of the young woman who’d walked into the bar next to his tenement building.

His hands gripped her tight running up her hips and to her ribs and back down again. He pulled her flush against him, his lips brushing against her ear, “I’m Carver love,” he introduced before nipping her earlobe, “And you are absolutely stunning, though I do have to say I bet that outfit would look WAY better on my floor.”

Sometimes he talked too much, but he definitely talked too much while he was drunk. He also tended to be far too handsy. It usually got him in trouble but in this case it seemed to work out. It was generally a fifty fifty shot for him. He boyish features usually made up for it.

She squirmed in his grasp, body rolling against him - his nip earning him a sharp gasp. Braelyn hummed, giggling quietly. It was those boyish features that was keeping him out of trouble for now, he wasn’t her type... but for now she was too buzzed and damn, did he feel good against her.

“I’m Braelyn and if you think so, why don’t we go find out?” Green eyes shined bright in the dim lights, filled with mischief and a hint of lust. If he played his cards right, she’d they’d be clouded with desire soon enough. As long as he wasn’t ALL talk.
