Thanks for the love everyone. I think I've got a handle on it now? I just really wasn't expecting that. On my facebook feed it followed like billion status' my cousin posted about baking cookies with her three year old daughter so I was super caught of guard?

yeah, agreed! a cat is like a little dumb baby, they're scared and need time to adjust, they have to be taken care of, you have to give them that. ;_;

i'm considering offering to reimburse / take over this cat from Alice and she can adopt a second cat and we'll split the food costs. but that won't actually be an answer to her reasons for getting rid of her, which she says is because she needs a lot of attention and we're gone all day. and i'm not sure i'm responsible enough to be in charge of a cat on my own, i'm kind of a wreck right now.

honestly, if i were adopting a cat on my own, i would NOT have picked this one. but i also wouldn't have brought her home thinking i'd get used to her and then decided to put her through the stress of moving again when i found i couldn't get used to her.

i know, right? i was already depressed (and the cat was helping!) and i've always been the type to get overly attached to things, so maybe i'm overreacting... but like... I know alice can be kind of cold, but she loves animals so i'm shocked at her reaction to this cat. i want to tell her I think she should suck it up, but it's her cat. There's a possibility she's right and the cat would be better off with a house where someone is home all the time (she likes people a lot, but has calmed down about us leaving the house over the past three days.) But whatever reasons Alice gives, I feel like it's just that she didn't fall in love with the cat initially, brought her home anyway, and now is looking for a reason to bring her back. 

but i can't say anything and i'm blowing it way out of proportion. it's spiraling into "i can't trust anyone, i can't rely on anything, i hate how selfish people are, i want to move out," etc, and it's now entirely crazy person thinking.
