Vietnam War 1966 - U.S. C-123 AIRCRAFT by manhhai Via Flickr: Three U.S. Air Force C-123 aircrafts wing over the South Vietnamese countryside on their way to a defoliation mission during the Vietnam War in 1966. On this mission, the aircrafts sprayed agricultural herbicides on dense jungle along a highway to eliminate possible Viet Cong ambush sites. The defoliants used on these missions, which are aimed at specific and limited areas to kill jungle vegetation only, are said to be harmless to humans, animals, soil and water. (AP Photo)
