Elizabeth Lail as Guinevere Beck & Madeline Brewer as Louise Flannery YOU (2018 - 2025) 5.06 "The Dark Face of Love"
yall can be mad about nick, but im happy. im so happy that the handmaids tale reiterated that the true love story is the love between women. the true love story is women standing TOGETHER, taking back their power, taking back their voices, taking back their agency, their families, their HOMES. if every single man on this show has to die for us to have the scenes with june and moira, june and emily, june and janine, june and her mother, june and every woman she has lost, then so be it. because it was never about those men. it was always, always, ALWAYS about these women.
Men like Joe, they… They really catch you off guard, don't they? Even when you think you have all the facts. Even when you think your hard-fought instincts are so good. Even though a voice in the back of your mind is… whispering. Telling you, "Don't be fooled by his smile." "It's all too good to be true." "The way he sees you." "The way he loves you." "Even when you don't love yourself." "Don't believe it when he tells you he'll take care of you." "Definitely don't assume the best when he says he'll keep you safe." You ignore that voice because it feels so good to love him and be loved by him. Like it's you and him against the world. You know what bad looks like. You know better. And when the bad things happen, you have to believe they're not actually bad, right? Because if you got fooled by this guy, you are not as smart as you thought you were. You're one of those women. You know, the ones you, deep down, think you're smarter than. It can't be you. But he's convinced you that you need him. And he's wormed himself so, so deep you don't know whether you are Bronte, or Louise, or Marienne. Or Beck. Or none of those. Or nothing.

I've been dreaming of Boston. Not Boston now, and not Boston from before. It’s another Boston. It’s the way things would be if there was never a Gilead.

I need the Bronte/Louise haters to understand that she is you.
She falls for Joe's tricks even though she already knows what he's done going into it. She still finds a way to push the blame away onto anything or anyone to justify why Joe is the way he is, just like the audience.
