Corey felt some pressure while standing ahead of the group with the single ray of light shown before him. He took a breath and reached his right hand toward the beam in an attempt to manipulate it for their benefit. After a solid minute of attempting, Apollo’s son turned away from the light while shaking his head in defeat. Either it was stuck in place or... he’d let all of his fellow demigod’s down. The latter thought sunk deep beneath his chest and Cor rejoined the group in order to retreat into the darkness with them. Scan his dark eyes across old books he could not see, trying to process the disappointment and probable shame he’d caused.
Another source of light. There was nothing here, but he considered that although this was Ari’s trial of Athena, he was not the only demigod present. They all were. They weren’t split apart like their parents, crossed over envy and greed, they were each other’s resource. He turned and looked back over the group, reconsidering for one last moment before finally asking all of them, “We might be able to use something from the outside. Has anyone kept a lighter on them?”
