Vartouhi stared at the stranger, incredulous. It was a shock that they even thought it was a possibility, that someone would date her. Slowly, she shook her head, eyes still wide and blinking owlishly. “Ah... no, not genuinely. He lies to people saying he is my boyfriend, so that no one becomes suspicious of him buying me many things... He told me it might lead people to pay too much attention to me, and that could result in my being recognized from the news, or worse--my true nature exposed to the general public. At least, that’s what was implied.” As her arms remained crossed, she drummed the fingers of one hand against her upper arm. “Also, he mentioned that he does not involve himself in serious relationships, and I have informed him of my unfortunate marital circumstances.”

Vartouhi crossed her arms tightly under her bust, tipping her head down to watch the ground as if something very interesting was going on. “He makes me nervous and uncomfortable,” she answered. She extended her leg out slightly, toes pointed as she began to tap them on the ground over and over. A ruse; she was trying to distract the stranger from noticing how her cheeks turned pink. “...But I like it,” she finally mumbled, almost too quietly to be heard. The next part she spoke more clearly, because it wasn’t so embarrassing, “Despite how frustrating he can be, he has been very generous with offering me help, and he has made my life a little more lively, so I am thankful to him. And however annoyed or flustered I may get, I am growing attached to him.”
