look I know it's wrong but no matter how many times I see 'Margarethe ' I completely miss the first R and as a result I always always mentally pronounce it as 'Magritte', as in the painter what did the people with towels over their heads.

“....Can I help you?” Roxanne studies the odd looking man residing in the hallway of the Pink Flamingo apartment complex. Perhaps he was some skeezy older man meeting his hooker here or just another drugged up has-been wasting his time like the other people who stayed here. However, there was something unusually eccentric about him. Roxanne had an eye for the strange, and he was definitely STRANGE. She’s leaning in her apartment suite doorway, cigarette dangling from her grasp. The neon violet PSYCHIC sign blinks on and off in her window. Roxanne takes another drag, awaiting his response.

Olaf smirked and pointed a finger in Dewey’s direction.

“Not that I’m aware of.” He didn’t know if Dewey meant the kids or the adults. The wording was vague but Olaf didn’t ever like to ask for clarification. “But seriously, no. Maybe some people have died for the sake of …the greater good…but I don’t like to think of it as ‘murder’. Too accusatory.”

     “I didn’t ask how you liked to think about it, I asked whether or not you did it. And you’re saying no. So. Do you know who did? One of your bosses, perhaps?” Dewey hoped the man and the woman weren’t involved in this case. If Olaf was a threat, then those two...

“So you didn’t kill the Baudelaires?” One of Dewey’s fatal flaws was his inability to tell if people were lying on sight. Some of his fellow volunteers had that knack; he didn’t. He had to gather evidence and wait for the truth to come out. 

It made confrontations very difficult.

“Because if you did, we’re going to have you arrested. I don’t care if I have to gather every volunteer from here to Singapore to do so.”
