Octavia felt rather similarly, though she tended more towards an organized chaos only she understood completely in her workspace than the neat organization the sub-librarian kept to everything. It wasn’t often she was taken from her personal sanctuary unwillingly as Dewey just was, but it had certainly happened before and it made her an anxious wreck every time.
It would be best to get him back to his safe place quickly, and hopefully without attracting any more unsavory visitors.
“Quickly enough.” Octavia replied, quickly digging around in her pockets for her car keys. “Haven’t really done much driving on cliffs… Once or twice to collect some specimens that only grow in rather high places, but it’s been a while. But, seeing as we don’t have much of an other option, I’ll see what I can do.”
“That’s true,” Dewey said, suppressing a sigh. “When there’s few options, the best thing to do is to use what you’ve got. I can send a coded message to see if one of our other agents can find their way to us, if you can drive us out of here quickly. Or, if you’re good with codes, you can send the message and I can drive?” He had been hoping that she’d be at least somewhat skilled in the getaway area, since he wasn’t. But it couldn’t be helped.
Behind them, plumes of dark smoke signaled that they should be leaving any moment. “On second thought, maybe we should discuss this in the truck?” The getaway vehicle was run-down and clunky, but Dewey hoped it was at least functional enough to get them away from the area.
