It’s with gentility that pale fingers trail across tanned skin, tracing golden swirls across the wrist which bore his own name. It brought him a sense of calm, an easy smile tugging at his lips in just knowing this person lying against him was the person just for him. “Good morning, love~” Lips press a kiss to the Egyptian’s forehead, shifting focus of touch to now envelop his soulmate within his embrace. //from @xltruistic for soulmate Atem ♡
He’d slept quite soundly that night, worn out by the intimate activities that he’d shared with his boyfriend and soulmate. Atem had, truthfully, not been expecting for Ryou to have quite the appetite when it came to their bedroom exchanges, given how soft and sweet his partner was otherwise, but it was hardly a complaint. It might have been a surprise to initially learn just how dominant his normally quiet boyfriend was, but it was hardly an unpleasant one.
That fact had likely been made obvious
by just how loudly he’d called for his soulmate
as they’d both been in the throes of their shared pleasure.
Atem was sore when he woke, but not unpleasantly so - it was an ache that came from having been so well loved, a reminder of just how desperate Ryou had been to have him. What truly coaxed him from sleep, however, was the soft sensation of fingertips against the inside of his wrist, a spot where the young man who he loved so dearly had placed more kisses than he could ever hope to keep track of. His lids fluttered drowsily, responding to the greeting with a soft, sleepy hum of his own.
Amethyst eyes slid shut once more as a kiss settled upon his brow, followed by a set of arms around that slid around him snuggly, wrapping him in their warmth. A sigh left him as Ryou’s scent filled his lungs and his own arms moved, clumsily, to curl around the taller man in kind, legs shifting so as to tangle themselves with his boyfriend’s.
“Morning,” he mumbled at last, the sound muffled as he buried himself into the pale skin of Ryou’s shoulder and kissed a mark that he’d left there the night before. Tucked against his soulmate beneath a tangle of sheets, it was hard to imagine anything better than this. Lazily did his hands move to trace along the curve of his beloved’s spine, simply relishing in the peace that came from feeling Ryou’s skin against his own.
These were the moments that he missed when they were apart - the quiet ones, where Atem simply listened to Ryou’s heartbeat, or the sound of his breathing. Someday, he wouldn’t have to leave his other half.
Someday, they’d be able to spend all their mornings like this.
“We don’t have to get up anytime soon, do we... ?”
