One thing I noticed in the Duke and GI Joe comics for the energon universe is that Duke uses an XM8 rifle. It's interesting because if you know the history of the XM8 rifle it was made to be a replacement to the M-4 carbine for the U.S. Military during the early days of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq in the early 2000's. The problem with that rifle is that the hand grip for the barrel would melt when it was fired for too long. And the real kicker is that it actually fits within the context of the energon universe. Since in the Duke comic they state the equipment in the Pit consisted of failed prototypes or old extra equipment. And the XM8 rifle is a failed prototype. So, it's not just a random choice the artist made but it actually makes sense within the comic. I love details like that.
