Cythinia stood near the bar with a flute of Champagne in one hand and her cellphone in the other. Scrolling through social media, she rolled her eyes in annoyance as she scanned through the many posts. “Okay, if one more person makes another stupid cliche New Years themed post—like ‘new year new me’—I swear I’m gonna lose my shit.” She thought aloud.
stepping back into the ballroom after already having popped out during the first ten minutes of the party to have a cigarette, caspian was trying to rein in the feeling of panic clustering inside him like an itch he just couldn’t scratch. he was supposed to be having fun. he was supposed to be taking his mind off everything, and yet instead he found himself scrambling to pick up the pieces and secure a sense of normality back to his life before midnight. but he was an actor. even if he didn’t feel okay in the slightest, he made a living off playing make-believe and this was one evening of pretending that he had to stomach. as his shoulder brushed roughly off that of the person beside him he piled on the charm as he would have done at parties in years past. as if everything were normal. “y’know, if you wanted to sweep me off my feet you could have just asked.”
Sitting alone at a table, Giulia took a moment to fix her hair and outfit before bringing her third glass of wine up to her lips, finishing what was left of it. Her eyes scanned around the room for someone that she knew but she wasn’t particularly close with many people lately. Nevertheless, she was optimistic that the event could be an opportunity for her to make a few more friends. Getting up, she went to the bar for another glass. “So,” She hummed out softly. “How are you enjoying the festivities?” She asked the person beside her.
valentine’s day had never been on ana’s favorite holiday list, perhaps because it was so close to her birthday that the two were always lumped together. but as she had gotten older she enjoyed a few tropes about the overly sappy holiday, namely how people just decorated with hearts for everything. “hey, i guess you could say i can wear my hear on my cleave tonight,” ana joked as she held up two big paper hearts over her chest. “y’know like sleeve but instead it’s cleave. wow i can’t believe i had to explain that to you now it’s not funny anymore.” she let out an exasperated sigh to the person she was talking to and turned to someone near by and asked, “you got it right?”
[sms] hello, upper east siders. it’s me, gossip girl. i’m looking forward to seeing you all at the valentine’s day benefit. as you know, yearly tradition brings the romantic date auction. traditionally, upper east siders are forced into it by their willful parents, hoping to entice them to a suitable match, but this year, i’m playing. which means you are too. if your parents couldn’t pony up, i made a donation in your name. if you don’t like your date, that’s too bad. better go & send me five interesting things you learned about the other person or i’ll have to share something that i’ve learned about you. xoxo, gossip girl.
please read the details below and like this post if your characters can/will participate in the date auction.
it’s an ostentatious night of smiling for the cameras, free drinks, and wondering who your secret date is going to be. the valentine’s day benefit is notorious for it’s decadence – it’s a classy, beautiful way to kick off the month of february, hosted by the whitney committee and the proceeds go to the new york city historical society. anyone who’s anyone will be there and the pressure is on, however, the cipriani 42nd street ballroom is known for more than it’s opulence and gastby-inspired colors – there’s a fair amount of hidden corridors, closets, and hallways that come with being a restored victorian ballroom. normally, any upper east sider would take advantage of this to cause some mischief, but will it be the same with gossip girl’s eyes on everyone?
gossip girl has stirred up some valentine’s day drama by throwing her hand into the yearly valentine’s benefit to keep things interesting. those who wouldn’t normally participate (their parents wouldn’t make them or they’re from brooklyn) are being pushed into it for the excitement – and to keep their secrets from getting revealed. the benefit itself will take place on the dash from thursday, january 31 at 4pm est, to thursday, february 7 at 4pm est (this could be extended or cut depending on the speed of the dash.)
dates will be released halfway through the event on monday, february 4th. from there, you can plan with your partner what they’ll do for their valentine’s day date. the dates are separate, closed threads that you do with your partner and they take place during the week following the benefit. your muse must send gossip girl their five things by february 14th, otherwise she’ll tell all. you can do this through the submit feature on this account.
if you have any questions, please let us know. here’s a brief timeline to help you out:
thursday, january 31, 4pm est: event begins!
monday, february 4: secret dates are announced!
thursday, february 7, 4pm est: event ends!
thursday, february 14th: five things list is due!
can i still continue old threads on the dash?
yes, if they are pre-plotted threads that need to be continued for character development (or if your muse is just flowing for them).
can i continue event threads after the event?
only if they are important to your character’s plot/pre-plotted.
sebastian couldnt wait to bring in the new year with a bang –– surely he had all sorts of things up his sleeve for 2019 but as of right now he was pretty happy to be here, getting probably the most drunk than he’s ever been. his eyes scanned the dance floor, seeing a lot of familiar faces that he’d get to once he made his way around ––– waiting for the chance he could do a champagne shower. he felt someone move next to him, looking over he nods his head, “ hey. “
excusing himself from the running commentary of what a great year he’d had from his peers, august found himself enjoying the moment of solitude as he sat on one of the steps of a great staircase, taking occasional swigs from a bottle of champagne that he had cradled in his lap. as someone approached he threw them a small, sad, smile. “are you here to make me come out of hiding?”
IT WAS HARD TO KEEP UP WITH APPEARANCES . at least that’s been the story thus far . if it were up to mikaela , she most certainly wouldn’t be here . the plan was in motion -- someone got her here , now she wants to know why , this of all things , was part of their plan . it’d be easy to get out , but at what cost ? it would make for a good story one day , yes , but it’s just too bad it was dreadfully boring thus far . face sours as she looks over at the other , wondering just how long it’d take before something good happened --- something worth her time . ‘ i’m starting to remember exactly why i protested against my parents when they’d sign me up for this shit . ’ brows furrow the moment as she finishes off her glass of wine . ‘ the drama free zone that’s happening kinda feels a little too good to be true , doesn’t it ? ’ that being said , she’s silently waiting for the other shoe to drop , eyes scanning the room in hopes that something will cause a spark to ignite everyone , hopefully sooner rather than later .
