#Repost @xptlife • • • • • TIP: After high intensity exercise it is easy to adopt stressful and dysfunctional breathing patterns. Many people will switch to over-breathing, all through the mouth and shallow into the chest. As this practice continues during repeated exercise sessions, it becomes habitual and increasingly difficult to change. Luckily through guided practice and prioritization of more efficient breathing patterns over task completion, these patterns can be retrained to create a more optimal strategy. . We use a reverse pattern of mouth-mouth, nose-mouth, then finally nose-nose routine at #XPT to recover from high intensity exercise. The intensity will dictate the pattern but all of the breaths must be deep into the lower lungs. . The goals of intra-workout recovery breathing include: . •Recover resting heart rate as fast as possible •Reduce onset of lactic acid from excess hydrogen ions •Focus the mind on something other than current state of fatigue •Shift to a parasympathetic state •Oxygenate the tissues . #xptlife #xptperformancebreathing #breathemoverecover #breatheinbreatheout #mindbody #tipoftheday #strengthandconditioningcoach #strengthcoach #wellness #sportsperformance healthcoach #sportsperformance #strengthandconditioning #performancetraining #athleticperformance #athleticdevelopment
