Betsy was glad she’d found refuge under an awning before the rain soaked her clean through. She knew it rained in the city, but this hard? This was something out of the ordinary, not to speak of the rain’s weird colour. A flash of red stole her attention; it was the wandering neighbourhood Spider-Man again (though she’d prefer calling him “boy” to his age), swinging from the rooftops. A distant yell told her he was in pursuit of someone, and she’d seen him in action before. He was capable of taking care of himself. Even if he was still a teenager. Until he wasn’t, apparently. Through the rain, she could see his descent on the feeling thief, but instead of the graceful landing she was used to seeing him perform, he flailed through the air and crashed into the criminal. Maybe he was having an off-day, she told herself. An off-day that quickly became worse when the thief grabbed him by the front of his suit and socked him clean across the jaw. ... okay. That definitely wasn’t like him. “Sorry, kid.” Betsy exited her refuge from the rain, ready to lash out with her powers and throw the guy off Peter. The power ran down her fingertips... then fizzled altogether. Time was not on her side to consider what this meant, not when Peter’s face was being introduced to the guy’s fist over and over again. Luckily, Betsy’s assassin talents were still in check. Out from the darkness she approached, sliding into the guy’s leg and knocking him off his feet. “Pick on someone your own size.” One quick strike to the man’s throat knocked him out cold. Quickly, she kneeled by the groaning Peter and helped him to sit up. “Distracted today?” she jested.
