WIP Wednesday Saturday
Ya I know it's not Wednesday by any means, but I have been tagged by the wonderful @sleepytimegrrl (thank u, fren!! <33) a few times now AND FINALLY have a moment to do this! So I'mma do it now before time runs away from me again.
For some reason, writing juice has been amped up this week, and I actually wrote over 11k words for the XunYin 'marriage alliance' AU! I'm feeling pretty good about it! XD
The Moon Prince raises his sword again, and this time, there is no grace or finesse whatsoever in his movements. He fights dirty, using every filthy, low-handed trick to foil his attackers, because injured and up against superior numbers, he needs to scrape together every advantage he can get, no matter how meager or shameful, so long as they can increase the chances of his survival. He grips the hilt of his sword in a death grip, because his fingers have become numb and lost all feeling. The blood from his wounds seeps faster, and the darkness that rings his vision grows wider. He is running out of time. He feints; like an injured animal exaggerating weakness to trick out its predator, only to turn around with startling speed and agility, lashing out with lethal intent. That move worked to draw in three overly impatient assassins, too eager to complete this mission that had taken far too long to fulfill. They had thought that he was already on his last legs, and it is an easy assumption to make but a mistaken, dangerous one. They had been hunting him for the last one day and one night, and even though he had taken down quite a few of their comrades in the process, he had also suffered numerous injuries at the same time. Any moment now, this highborn prince will come crashing down; there is only so much damage a body can take. But Dongfang Xunfeng is still standing, albeit unsteadily, and his blade is so impossibly fast even if his immortal bone is grievously damaged, the black metal glinting crimson under the sunlight as it exits two bodies in rapid succession, nearly bisecting the torsos of his screaming enemies from shoulder to hip, almost as if cutting through butter. The third is sent wheeling away with a vicious kick, chambered with enough crushing force to shatter the sternum. All those blows are meant to kill, if not downright incapacitate, because there are no second chances if he fails to take them down now. Breathing hard, he stumbles backwards from the force of his own attacks, and nearly pitches over as he compensates for the shifting center of gravity. The remaining six who are more cautious immediately see their chance. One more quick glance at the War God at their back confirms that she is still sitting on that rock and casually grazing on her trail ration; the woman really has no intention to interfere with their mission. So, they finally let their guards down and put their full focus on killing the Moon Prince once and for all. As it should be, because why would the War God of Shuiyuntian go above and beyond to save a longtime enemy? It would likely please her more if they could take him out here and now.
