I can't not cook when my buds come over.
I may live an hour-ish or so away from the Canadian border, but in a past life I surely lived in Louisiana. I have a flare for Cajun & Creole cuisine. One of my bros and fellow WWI reenactors stopped out after his shift last evening for a beer. Well I can't just offer the guy a Genny. The dude needed food and I had the stuff. So, I made Yakamein. I was assisted by my sous chefs, the dogs.
If you've never had it, I suggest you try it. According to lore & legend, Yakamein came about when Chinese immigrants moved to New Orleans and made their dishes using local ingredients/spices. The dish is a neat blending of cultures, truly an American masterpiece.
Fun fact- I still have never been to Louisiana.
