I always thought it referenced the whole of the stage being more important than the stars. I think they mentioned this as an important lesson in episode one. But I may be wrong.

I mean you’ve seen this show way more times than I have so, you may be right. But even then, the “forgiveness of sins” thing doesn’t make any sense to me. Even if the stars are “important” what are they really? I can’t land on an answer that I can live with and enjoy, but there are a lot of intriguing possibilities

Rei forgetting her mother just absolutely wrecked me this morning. This is such an interesting concept and you wrote it so well

Rei is actually the one I felt saddest about, I’m glad (sort of) that that got you too! It was the one part that I almost didn’t want to write, it felt crueler than even Mako’s bit.

This was such an interesting concept and I loved the way you conveyed each of them dealing with losing themselves. There was interesting differences. I especially loved the Mina/Venus part. I really wish you had expanded on this more...especially how does Usagi (vs Serenity) deal with this?

Ahh, thank you! This is definitely something I might go back and dig into, because there’s so many parts of it that I think could be fascinating. If/when it comes to Usagi, I think it would be awful, because I don’t think she’d see it coming and then it would all hit her one day that everyone is different, and maybe it’s her fault.

Wait. Wasn’t her stage to not use the other girls’ glimmer? Wasn’t that Hikari’s solution to saving Karen?

Yeah but I think Maya is referring to when Hikari came, she was a dead stage girl? because her ~shine~ was stolen? I dunno, as I stated this is a real pain point for m in this anime, I can’t get over it.

I do enjoy all the food shots in this anime. Potatoes and now hot pot. It’s like the producers were aiming for yours and Jet’s attentions.

I do love some good anime food now and again, but often it just makes me want something to eat ahaha.

So you think this is her remembering or is she still just reliving Claire’s part?

I think that brief flash where we see Karen’s hair clip is definitely meant to indicate that for one moment she remembers something real about her life. I think it’s incredibly fleeting, though, and she’s gone by the time she hits the ground.

The musical came before the anime and Star Divine is specifically carried over. It’s also the first single released for the show so arguably the most well known and popular up to this point. The anime specifically updated the lyrics and gave Claudine a big solo in the anime. Still not her own Revue song though.

Yeah I actually think the placement of star divine in the anime is a bit of a misstep! I think it works SO much better as a group number, though I don’t know where I would have put it myself.

While Maya already had a Revue episode and Hikari and Karen clearly have their story playing along, this is a Maya and Claudine episode. It’s interesting that the episode we find out about them is about their relationship as a pair and not as individuals. Like the show did with Futaba and Kaoruko, it’s all about “fixing” who they are as a duo.

Yeah, I think it’s really fair to say that only by the end of this episode do we see Claudine and Maya able to really be supports to each other in a genuine way rather than simply rivals. I think it moves the ball on them pretty well.
