The whisky comes from the Yamazaki Distillery, Japan’s oldest malt distillery, founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii. The distillery is located near Kyoto, in a region known for its exceptionally pure water and humid climate – both essential factors for the maturation of whisky.

Unlike many smoky or robust whiskies from Scotland, the Yamazaki 12 Year Old focuses on finesse. It is harmonious, mild, and very approachable, making it appealing to both beginners and connoisseurs alike.

Yamazaki 12 Years Old is an iconic single malt whisky from the distillery of the same name near Kyoto, Japan. Founded in 1923, the Yamazaki Distillery is Japan’s oldest whisky distillery. It belongs to the Suntory Group, one of the world’s leading spirits manufacturers. Yamazaki 12 Years Old was one of the first Japanese whiskies to gain international recognition and played a key role in establishing the reputation of Japanese whisky as a high-quality alternative to Scottish and Irish whiskies.

Yamazaki 12 Years Old is made from pure spring water from the region, imported Scottish barley, and a unique combination of different types of casks:

ex-bourbon casks (for vanilla and caramel notes),

sherry casks (for fruity and spicy aromas),

Japanese Mizunara oak casks (for its characteristic spice).

Maturation takes place in the distillery’s cool cellars, where seasonal temperature fluctuations give the whisky its distinctive depth.

Este es un whisky con 12 años de añejado, muy sobrio y minimalista en su etiqueta, y embotellado a 43% de alcohol. Tiene aromas a frutas como manzanas amarillas, melón, banana, durazno, acompañado de madera, vainilla, almendras, cáscara de naranja, pasas y dátiles. . En boca todos esos aromas se traducen a notas relacionadas con jerez e incluyen más protagonismo de las frutas dulces como pasas y dátiles, pero también mermelada de naranja, vainilla, miel, madera, manzanas amarillas y albaricoque enlatado. En el retrogusto hay notas sutiles de café y chocolate. .
