#MacallanMonday spent with a #AmitabhBachchan coffee table book. The #macallan12 Sherry cask has long been my go to #whisky. There is an excellent balance between ginger spice and toffee sweetness. If you prefer your whisky to have a stronger spice profile then you might want to try the #Macallan18 sherry cask - ginger notes are certainly stronger in that one. So is the price tag though! Long weekend topped off with the world renowned #Kavalan #vinho #barrique. Bottled at #CaskStrength, this gem always delivers quality. The nose is rich with vanilla and toffee flowing in abundance with citrus and pepper hints. The palate has light hint of sherry, sweet fruity goodness with mango and plums coming to mind. Bitter spice notes are always in the background for balance. The bitterness continues onto the finish which battles against vanilla notes to complete a great dram. #macallanmonday with two excellent Macallan's. The #macallan12 aged in sherry cask is a particular favourite. Though this expression is a US import, it is bottled at 43% abv, while the Australian bottles are 40% abv. That 3% makes a significant difference. The ginger and toffee profiles are punchier as is the #sherry influence. Sunday afternoon, final afternoon before lockdown ends. Its been 105 days ans this a great way to bring it to an end. #Kavalan solist port cask paired with cheddar cheese infused with cracked pepper. The nosing is fruity with zest and an excellent oak you associate with premium bourbon. The fruitiness continues to the palate in the form of plum, citrus which is balanced nicely with toffee notes along with hints of dark chocolate.
