30 DAYS OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT [DAY 10] [MISC.]

Oh no, this is one of those ones... ;_;

10.) Can you define a turning point in your character’s life? Multiples are acceptable.

  [ALSATIA]

His first turning point was at his 15 years. Until there, he had an uneventful life (apart from one perverted teacher, nothing that would left a deep emotional scar) as a normal teenager at Iceland. Then, all of a sudden, he was at a new country, with a new name, a man he never saw before deeming he was his father and surrounded by a strange culture, strange people and the knowledge his mother was death and he had nothing more to return for at his homeland. It was a hard, sour blow that left him forever changed; his smile, once so bright, vanished forever. His personality, shy but definitely warm and sociable, froze like his nostalgic Iceland. It was like seeing another entirely different Alsatia – a new boy that born there, “Aru”.

It could be said that his second turning point would be some years later, when he was married with Tsuruya Tamaki. It was not just about the marriage, but everything that followed that: responsibilities, the title of Patriarch, demands for heirs, a whole new set of enemies and corruption and one big mess to clean up, and above all, Gai’s jealousy over his new status. Everything took a tool on an already frail Aru, and that was the start of his long story with sleeping pills and other questionable medicines.

That single moment would be burnt forever inside his mind, like a tattoo, a prisoner’s sigil. He felt nothing and at the same time he felt everything. All the emotions burnt in a fire and what just got behind was the shame. Not even revenge quite stood there; everything vanished, and he became a creature moved by a single desire of running away from everything.

He did so. He ran away so perfectly that he became another entirely different person. A new life he promised he wouldn’t destroy this time. And he thought that he would manage to keep that person, that past, that life like a lingering, annoying dream.

How silly of him; the past is like a ghost. Like an annoying dream. It came back.

She couldn’t even remember why she was there. Why that was happening. She prayed that everything was just a bad dream and that was just the usual treatment: harsh words, discrete and non-compromising violence, verbal assaults. Kicks. Those were things she could deal with, she dealt with it everyday. But that was wrong: the excruciating pain, the smell of burnt flesh. The knowledge that the flesh was hers, and it was burning but she was trying to move – of course, she was pinned down. She couldn’t even scream: surely, those laughs would be louder than any cry for help. And who would help her? That place, who hurt her every single day? No. That place was letting this happen.

“Burn her hair,” they said. She froze. The warm, stich feeling at her arm had stop. She knew instinctively what would come next. The air was still and the sun was burning in a bright orange; as bright as the fire. Such a bright afternoon. It was too bright. Too loud. Too everything. She closed her eyes in fear when the hand grabbed her hair, a moan of pain exciting more laughs. They were chanting “burn”; she was chanting “stop”. In such a bright afternoon, the fire was light up. She knew what would happen next.

It was said by a police officer, hours later, that the blood dripped fresh from the girl’s uniform. She didn’t said a word.

The girls she never saw again also never did.

He used to be a bright, uncorrupted flower inside a rooting garden. It was truth that he kept a façade of an exemplar Langridge son to society, but deep down he was a rebel at heart; he would be helping the underdogs and being gentle to servants, even if that was low. Then, that boy came to their house. It could be said it was love at first sight and wouldn’t be a complete lie; Seymour was impressed by Rhydian’s presence since day one, and it never changed one single bit. And because he was so fascinated it also made him scared: he knew what awaited the poor boy. And tried with all his strength to prevent such fate. Of course, he failed. And once he failed, he kept failing.

His gentleness, once like a bright candle, became hardened day by day, until becoming a conflagration. And inside a room with crimson curtains under the gentle breeze of summer, he looked at his older brother and Langridge heir’s eyes, the same color as his, until those very eyes would become numb and unfocused. Until the limbs that once strangled that precious boy’s neck with such pleasure had stop moving. With the hands that once tried to protect precious Rhydian, he put an end to the very core of the evil. His forehead was bleeding and his breath was heavy, but he felt no remorse. No joy. No fear. No relief. Nothing.

He became empty. And he never really quite got full with anything again.

The child stood there, observing without a single word. They would be useless; the scream got locked inside his throat. Like a pendulum; left and right. Right and left. He wasn’t alive anymore, yet he kept moving at that rope. Left and right. Right and left. Wide opened eyes, disgusted and pathetic expression, blond hair falling from his shoulders. “The First Sacrifice”. Finally dead.

Like a pendulum. Like a silent clock. Like a countdown. Now it was his time. Right and left. Left and right. Moving endlessly at that rope, blond hair falling from the shoulders. The expression of someone who died without knowing why, for what he was giving his life.

Now it would be his turn. His time.

Oh yeah, let's keep going.

9.)  Who does your character trust?

  [ALSATIA]

Gai and... And pretty much just him. He used to trust on Miki when younger, but now he hardly talks to her.

  [MIKOTO]

She would love to say that she trust in her husband wholeheartedly, but unfortunaly she can’t afford be naïve so for now just at her. She sincerely hopes it can change someday. She doesn’t trust at her family or her relatives.

  [SEYMOUR]

He trusts on Rhydian, so he really doesn’t feel like needing to trust on anyone else. (Besides they're all vipers and monsters)

  [STEINER]

He trusts in his family (Vin and Dolce), and would like to believe he trusts too on his other one, the one he left at Germany, but honestly he has some serious issues with them (mostly concerning himself and not those two).

Oh, you can call her a heartless bitch but she trusts no one. Not even herself. (Though with time she feels she can trust on Ayumi, but)

6.) Describe your character’s happiest memory.

  [ALSATIA]

He has oh-so-many good memories, but his happiest for some reason would be the day he first saw Gai. He didn’t even saw he back, probably people wouldn’t even understand why he thinks that such would be his most precious memory, but there’s something about that small moment, about seeing a guy with a funny hair and a stoic face, that is so precious that he just can’t help but to look back at that with joy. It is probably because, deep down, he felt like that was the first moment of the rest of his life.

He could number one thousand of good days and good memories, but the one that will stay forever lingering his brain like a scar that just won’t vanish will be the day he knew Hirota had born. Even with the painful knowledge that Mihiro would suffer for that (and actually was already suffering), he was indescribably happy by knowing that the person he loved gave them a son.

Of course she’ll die not telling anyone about this, but her happiest, most precious memory would be the only Christmas she spent with her parents as a family. It was really, really precious, and they did that for her happiness, and she’ll be forever grateful for that sacrifice; she treasures that single day as the best day of her life, and the one she enjoyed the most. They never did such a thing ever again, but she at least could die saying that for one day and one day only she understood that yes, she’ll love those stupid parents forever and will do her part in please them.

His happiest memory is the day he noticed that Rhydian loved him. Of course, “love” would be ask too much, for the boy would be forever a scary and lonely person and that was probably just some kind of self-deceit, self-protection, but yet when he noticed he was loved and that wasn’t just something one-sided – even when Rhydian himself didn’t knew that yet – he was very happy; it was like everything he did upon that point and everything he were and was now were all worth in the end. It was like seeing that his patience and love really saved the little one somehow, and that was a relief.

It’s easy: the day he first entered their new house at Canada. Until there, everything felt kind of like a dream, something that was not happening; he felt until there he would wake up at the execution chamber anytime and it would be everything just a happy delusion that would leave a sour taste in his mouth. But it was real. And when he felt that faint smell of dust and wood and new beginnings, he understood just that. It was probably the moment he was most on the verge of tears than any other moment.

5.) What’s your character’s ranking on the Kinsey Scale?

Oh yeah, this one is a 6. Sorry, women.

He’s a 0. Yes, because for him kids are not even human to start with, so he doesn’t even bother to count them.

He’s probably a big, big X. His thing is only Rhydian and if he was a tree he would love the boy the same way.

Incredibly enough he’s a 6 since he just had (and will have) Vin as a lover in his whole life.

(But then again, if Vin was a woman he would love him anyway so again we have a problem...?)

30 DAYS OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT [DAY 2] [MISC.]

Day 2 and let's go.

2.) What are your characters most prominent physical features?

  [ALSATIA]

The first thing someone would notice, besides him being an obvious gaijin, is his hair. A curly, pale-blond hair, that makes him seem almost angel-like. He has ice-blue eyes too (though half-dead most of the time), and the mix really makes him seem like something untouchable.

It is probably her lack of any remarkable physical features that makes her stand out. Since crows usually are beautiful and everything, that “plainness” of hers is really something. She has to dress herself in a good way and use accessories every time she wants to be recognized.

(Also probably how she still seems like she has 14 years old even being already at her 20s, with the baby face and narrow tights and narrow waist and small breasts.)

He has some really bright eyes. It’s not even the color – a bright green, yes – but the way they seem very friendly and maybe even innocent, which is a rare sight for someone of the British nobility. His smile is even brighter. Of course, with the time, these two things just vanished altogether, but they still got their gentleness there.

I think his whole figure stands out in a sense. But it’s probably his hair: since it’s kind of long, he takes care very well of it, or as “very well” as someone who doesn’t care about anything at all can take care. It makes a person wonder too, since he’s never seen with it undone.

Since he dyes his hair of blond, people usually don’t pay attention to this part of him. But then again, he’s a 2m08 huge ass monster and is the twin with the scar in his eyebrow, so it’s really irrelevant in the end.

What did your character have for breakfast? [SETSUNA]

Do they like a traditional breakfast? Or maybe they eat something totally incongruous with what’s normal breakfast food where they live?

She eats anything. Anything really, as longs it’s not sweet (and well, if it is, she can always add salt). Usually she will eat at Takeshi’s house so it’s a Japanese traditional breakfast; fish, lots of delicious sushis, rice, miso soup, tamagoyaki, onigiris and these things. At home she’s used to just drink coffee as breakfast and is rather ok with buying something at the school’s cafeteria. The menu doesn’t change that much, so it’s always melonpans, sandwiches, cereal bars, bentous that they make, sometimes all of these things at once (she has an endless stomach, sorry). She’s not that used to eat western, elaborated breakfasts, that’s for sure.

  Do they have eating habits that make them stick out in a country that is not their homeland?

Actually I think that her habit of adding shameless amounts of salt to anything and maybe even at the coffee (she actually used to do that when she was a child. And would say “delicious” after drinking the abomination) would be probably a thing that would be make her stick out pretty much anywhere.

  When did they have breakfast? 5 am, or 12 noon? Perhaps they skipped breakfast?

Now, it really depends of the place where she is at. When she’s at Takeshi’s house, she eats breakfast normally, somewhere around 7 and 8 am, and still has time to go to school.

If she’s at home, then again it depends: if she’s by herself or with her mother (who’s a monster when at the first hours after waking up) she’ll probably just skip the breakfast there and buy something at the school’s cafeteria. If she sees her father in the kitchen (a rare sight) she’ll drink a cup of coffee with him in silence before going.

  Do they love breakfast, or hate it?

She’s indifferent to it, though it’s always a good thing to have the stomach full until lunch.

  Who with and where did they eat?

She usually will have her breakfast alone at her class, but again as said before, sometimes she eats at her grand grandfather’s house with him and sometimes at home.

  Did they cook?

She knows how to cook for herself, but really, it’s usually not worth all the trouble so she just buys something at the cafeteria. It’s simpler. Plus she gets more hours of sleep doing so.
