Y O G A Yes we definitely need yoga right now more than ever but yoga isn’t just moving through different poses. Yoga is also meditation, self-study, one point focus, withdrawal of the sense... remember when I touched on the #8LimbsOfYoga ? Yes! Yoga is the ☂ that holds all these different elements together. I believe more than anything we should be looking to ourselves, the actions of not just within but the actions of our society, the actions of those that are powerful on this Earth, the role we have in our communities and how we can impact them directly. This virus is here to teach us something. We may go into quarantine for a good reason if I say so myself. This virus spreads easy and I believe we are not taking it as though. Seeing what happened to Italy and how loosely they took there quarantine yet how quickly it spread. The spreading is what we are accountable for. It may not affect us young folks, or those of us who have typical immune systems but isn’t it our social responsibility not to spread it to those who don’t? Staying to ourselves, meditating, listening, learning, being still is what YOGA is all about. This is what we practice on the mat. Now is our time to move it off the mat. Self-discipline as the #Yammas explain is the first Limb. We can connect this to being disciplined in our personal hygiene and footprint. Or Using the #Niyamas (self-observe) to see, check in on how this is all affecting you. What you can do to make a difference. Maybe practicing the #Asana on your own and using all the tools your teacher normally gives you during class or using a comfortable seated posture for #Dhyana (meditation). How about checking out different types of breath #Pranayama to use in these times that can cause some to panic. Thinking of quarantine can we now easily invite #pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses). Maybe if we all focused on one thing #Dharana like peace and tranquility can we create a shift using the collective power. SHERE // There is nothing better then helping others, passing on what you learned from others and your own experiences. As much as a public speaking is scary, its worth it.
