"You know the Admiral is going to kill us for this!" she hollered, and ahead of them both, Matt snarled back.

"Shut up, Hatley! The point is we need to make it back to him, so more running and less talking!"

As it turned out, Piett found them first which became clear when he stepped out about forty feet ahead of them and cooly wielded the denton launcher to devastate their pursuers.

Then the Admiral lowered the weapon as they reached him, panting and sweating, and raised an eyebrow at them before saying calmly---"I presume there's an explanation."
