Chapter 1
"Exactly ten thousand years ago a young elf committed a crime so heinous that it was never entered into the public records of the second realm. He was banished into earth, away from the magical world that birthed him."
"Some say he experimented with dark magic to create 'the macabre', a mysterious manmade plant that drains the magic from the surrounding area and when eaten, it makes the victim's worst nightmares true."
"Others say he made a love potion to seduce the king, but he used black magic and drove the king insane."
"Whatever the case may truly be, all that is known for sure is that he was directly connected to the maddening and subsequent death of the king."
"He returnes today Yanga, can you believe that?" Wex exclaimed, her short brown hair bobbing as she finished reading the old script.
"I better do," Yanga's words were slurred as usual, their long pink hair matted and stuck to their sweaty face, the bags under their eyes make them look a decade older than what they are.
Wex sighed and looked at her partner, they are still dressed in their nightgown which has (intentionally) fallen off their shoulder, but their plan was foiled as Wex's eyes were drawn to the long cigarette nestled between Yanga's index and middle finger.
"Are you really going to go to the welcoming high?"
Yanga laughed, it was a forced one just like all other. "Come on starling~ Do you really want me to be around the royal guard while sober?"
Wex opened her mouth to answer but the words died at her lips as the memory of the last time that happened returned to her. They were both younger, around 170 to be exact, and they were visiting Wex's family to get their minds off of the upcoming seasonal exams.
They were stopped by a member of the royal guard who immediately recognised Yanga because of their bright blue eyes paired with their dark raven hair.
Even an elf's incredible memory can't help when trauma is involved, as neither of them remember exactly what happened that day other than Yaga being taken to the hospital and later put on trail.
Apparently they had verbally attacked the guard at one point and he responded by shooting an unarmed civilian. Thankfully jusice was served as the judge could clearly tell who was more in the wrong.
It was that incident that sent Yanga into the downward spiral they are in today. They dyed their hair pink so that they won't be recognized by sight alone and they started.... this... whatever this is. Their relationship was never the same afterwards.
Wex cleared her throat and stood up, her simple yellow dress falling right above her knees, swirling around her as she walked with all the grace and quiet that is expected of an elf.
She stool tall and steady over their partner's hammock and with one swift motion of the hand, Yanga was on the floor.
"What in the name of the fucking Goddess is wrong with YOU??" They shrieked as they tried to get up, but a foot rested heavily on their back as Wex leaned in.
"You have fifteen minutes to get ready before we leave to the welcoming, you are the one that will be reintroducing him to society, make a good impression."
A deep blush settled on their cheeks, "You're the boss."
1609
