South African artist Yannick Illunga, who performs under the moniker Petite Noir, has unveiled another striking new track from his forthcoming King of Anxiety EP. Having already shared Chess, and the Mos Def-featured Till We Ghosts, Shadows is the latest from this exceptionally promising new musician. Petite Noir’s vocals really dazzle on a bed of rich production, varied instrumentation and post-punk guitar riffs. Essential listening for fans of Wild Beasts, Tv on the Radio and Foals.
Noir’s debut EP The King of Anxiety will be released next week with a full length expected later in the year out through Domino imprint Double Six Records.
PETITE NOIR
Introducing Chess, the lead single from Petite Noir's debut EP The King of Anxiety, which is now on the horizon. The album is the result of the project by Yannick Ilunga, a singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist from South Africa, who previously is known for fronting electronic band Popskarr. It's misty, fresh and just sounds pretty darn cool; a sound testament to the sprawling sound that comprises the 'indie' label now today.

Petite Noir - Noirse
Yannick Iluga AKA Petite Noir has been making waves in the world of new music recently. The South African musician certainly is doing something different and unique. The new project Petite Noir sounds great, and dare I say it but the next big thing? The deep booming vocals and electronic sound is reminiscent of artists such as TV On The Radio and Kwes. The use of Foals-esque guitar riffs adds so much more depth to latest track "Noirse" and the use of a live drum kit as apposed to a drum machine which so many artists use today makes the track sound fantastic! "Noirse EP" is available to download on iTunes now, including remixes from Deptford Goth, Nguznguzu and Pional.
