Mulan AU where it’s not that they believe Yanli can’t cultivate (her mother is proof enough that they would want her to even if you don’t follow any of canon’s view of female cultivators) but that none of her mother’s teachings ever hit home with her, so it wasn’t till she was sent off to Cloud Recesses that the Lan and Jiang siblings and Nie Huaisang decided to train her to be the most badass cultivator ever and it’s sorta kept a secret because she wants to surprise her mother with it (even tho Jiang Cheng and WWX are sorta unenthusiastic about her showing YZY cause of how she treats JC they don’t think she’ll treat Yanli much better) and so in the end YZY never actually finds out about Yanli’s high cultivation levels because JC and WWX refused to let her show it when the Wen clan called the disciples to heel because they knew YZY would force her to go with them and that would crush all of them, but then the war breaks out, and Yanli is actually right there with WWX and JC on the front lines and the battles are much less crushing in the end.

The interesting part: because of Yanli having a high rank in the battles, JGS couldn’t embarrass her by asking her to marry his son cause that would make HIM look like a dick and tbh he’s already afraid of his wife he doesn’t want a mini her in the palace, but then Yanli stands up and asks for Jin Zixuan’s hand like a boss and he’s all *meek shy boy nod of respect and ascent* and now JGS is like flailing around trying to get shit under his control again when it’s suddenly being said what a shock is is that the Jiang clan had THREE of the highest ranking generals at such a young age and none of the other clans had that and what good warriors Yanli and JZX’s children would be and Meng Yao (still at NMJ’s side because I fuckin said so lol) is all ‘lol this shit’s hilarious’ and whispering in Mingjue’s ear about how he can fluster JGS even more and more as they go to make the man look as incompetent as he is, and it’s. A farce.

Anyways. All the Wen survivors (all of them) go to live on Cloud Recesses land and Lotus Pier land and WWX disappears for a hot minute to go visit Lan Wangji (which is who Wen Ning and Wen Qing and A-Yuan and Granny have all settled, what a shocker) and doesn’t come back for three months and when he does he’s all ‘I have super important news!!!!’ ‘Oh? You gay fo Wangji now? Gettin the dick finally???’ ‘Lol no JC you joker, I’m adopting A-Yuan.’ ‘...fuckin who????’ ‘Lol he’s adorable ull love him’

Anyways. Now comes the ‘let’s get WangXian together’ game that takes Jiang Yanli and Jiang Cheng six fuckin years (five of which WWX and LWJ have already been sleepin in the same bed for to save space :) to complete and it’s got so many bets. Wen Ning isn’t seen as a threat cause LWJ sometimes pats his hair and tells him he’s doing good work (gardening and making medicine mostly) and he gets all flustered but smiley and LWJ is all ‘yes. That’s our slightly more baby son. The toddler is more mature than him. He’s good boy.’ And it’s precious. Thank you.
