Hi! I’m the anon that asked those questions about Thorax last week. I got a few more questions.
I know Oppi said that Thorax is too big for her to eat him but like, how come? Can’t her hive just kidnap him and eat him later? Wouldn’t a bigger size mean a grander meal. Out of all the changelings he probably has the most love. Is his shell too hard to be bitten into? Even if they couldn’t eat him why leave him alive. The hive wouldn’t have a leader anymore, and I don’t think Twilight would keen on letting Chrysalis rule again.
Other than making him suffer I don’t see why leaving him alive would be favorable. Dead or alive his allies would be coming after her so why not just kill him when you have the chance? Was she planning to come back next year and do it all over again? Probably won’t be as effective.
Don’t get me wrong, he’s my favorite character and I’m glad that he’s alive and I also love angst, but like is making someone suffer all that great if it could potentially bite you in the butt in the future? It doesn’t look he was fatally injured, just traumatized and SAed(implied( ew,I hope karma gets her, cause that and eating the eggs is just vile and unredeemable, in my eyes at least)).
Whether on not Thorax would come after her because of what she did, shouldn’t she at least consider that? Even if she didn’t kill him, why didn’t she fatally injure him to the point where he couldn’t hurt her even if he wanted to?
Off topic but what creatures did Grogar create? I know discord’s one of them, but did he create Tirek, or the changelings? I’ve always wondered what constituted as a monster in the show.
Ok, I genuinely didn’t expect this to be long. I started off with two questions in mind 😓.
AWWW WELCOME BACK :DD
I love questions, dude, please don't even stop /lighthearted. So long as you're alright with my long-winded answers...
The conversation ahead gets rather dark, so beware of that (I'm talking kidnapping, slavery, r-pe, and literal baby-eating + cannibalism... any parallel to real life events are purely coincidental, of course... It's not like I made her as a parody of real live people in a position of power or anything................ /ironic).
To start off: Oppi meant "too big" in the sense of "too mature"/"too old". She's not looking to eat a mature Queen, because her food source is the brood of said queens! That's actually the reason why she always spares changelings of Hives she attacks: so they can continue to care for their queen and repopulate in the future.
Truth be told, I might even rework Coroptera to be worse than she currently is. But no promises, tbh. I'm trying to think of the narrative... mmm. It's hard, haha.
What I mean by this is that the current Oppi works like this: she attacks a Hive, drains and stores Love from 70-80% of said Hive's changelings (mostly the warriors; often killing them in the process), drains the eggs, and cocoons the larva (<- travel snacks...). She leaves behind the Queen she attacked and 20-30% of her changelings (always workers) so they can care for that Queen and restart the cycle.
She acts like a seasonal hunter, man. She's gotta hunt, then leave her targets alone for a while so they repopulate and she can hunt again. Usually the attacked Hive takes 2-5 years to rebuild under the same Queen, OR the attacked Hive disbands (changelings leave the attacked Queen for another). Either way a new Hive will form and Oppi can feed again another day.
Oppi's ability makes her subjects be able to get a lot more "juice" outta their victims, and every changeling can make cocoons that preserve Love extremely well, so each attack gets them enough Love to last about 8-12 months of sustenance, on average. Thorax's Hive was an outlier, and Oppi gained enough Love to keep her Swarm sustained for about two years and a half 😭.
If I were to change Oppi, I would make her attack Thorax's Hive the way she usually does: drain, store, let them repopulate... but after figuring out how Thorax's Hive, specifically, works, she'd change her mind. Think with me: Thorax is an incredibly unique type of changeling that produces love within his own shell. It would be far more profitable for Oppi to keep him and his subjects alive (and cocooned) to be used as cattle (like cows for milk or chickens for eggs), instead of letting them free to repopulate on their own. Thus, my idea for an Oppi rework, is for her to take over Thorax's Hive instead of taking his grubs and fleeing.
This means cocooning everyone and keeping Thorax on a metaphorical leash to use him and his subjects as-- well. Yeah.
This of course would mean that Twilight and the others would find her and need to deal with her much sooner than I originally imagined, but honestly I rather like this idea.
Oppi is also a really interesting character to me because she's in the perfect position to present an expected question to the premise I'm making: "does someone like Queen Coroptera deserve redemption?". That's for my Twilight to figure out. Heh. She's like Valentino to Charlie, now that I think of it.
Also, he's an image I don't think I've ever shared. I've debated on whether or not to post this for a long time... she is pretty despicable, man.
As for Grogar: I've realized I made a mistake in his reference sheet which I will be fixing as soon as I can. I believe he did not create Discord, or Accord for that matter; instead he is an equal to Discord and Accord; arcane gods and all that. I shall make a proper post on it sometime.
He created the Ancestors of everything we currently know: Ancient Dragons, Ponies, Yaks, Changelings... "Monsters", "Creatures", it all falls into the same category. Ponies are categorized as Monsters Made By Grogar, man. They evolved to the creatures we know today. Little remains from Grogar's history or the Grogarian Era, but some bits of dark, arcane magic and legends still poke through ever now and then.
In fact, Elder Sendak made it his life's work to seek, translate and practice old magic of the Grogarian Era. Tirek's "Magic Drain" spell is originated from Grogar's influence.
Really, does no one else get bothered by how Canon Grogar's Bell and Tirek's power set are basically the same? The Bell takes, stores and gives away raw magic; Tirek does the same thing. The difference is that any magic that Tirek eats is transformed into his magical signature/aura (the yellow-orange color of his magic), whereas the Bell maintains the individual signature/aura of anything it consumes (Discord's Chaos Magic, the Princesses' Alicorn Magic, etc).
That's kind of why I've mildly reworked my Grogar's Bell: he also drains others, but he does it far more aggressively. The worst thing Tirek can do is drain a pony of their cutie mark, making them lethargic and weak, but overall they can still survive; Grogar's Bell drains you to a husk in seconds until you crumble into dust. You basically get Thanos Snapped. Fun! The magic he took from you will be used to create new life later.
My pantheon is still in the works, to be honest, but my idea is that there are four major Gods in the world (only Three are majorly known because Grogar is often mischaracterized in history books as a Legend, a Warlord or Powerful Creature rather than a God). Those are Root of Harmony, Root of Evil, Spirit of Chaos and Spirit of Order: Root, Grogar, Discord and Accord respectively.
The concept of "twin opposites", as I call them, apply. Two gods have essentially the same domain, but are so opposite to each other that they cannot exist at the same time: they share a body and only come out under specific circumstances.
If there is too much Order in the world, Discord comes out (that is why we only ever see Discord in the show: Equestria is too orderly. They handmake their seasons, their climate, their world...). If there's too much Chaos, Accord comes in to fix it. Usually this happens willingly: if Discord feels bored, he goes to sleep and Accord takes over; if Accord feels content with his work, he goes to sleep and Discord takes over, and the cycle goes on forever and ever...
Root and Grogar work in a similar way, but no one knows exactly how. (<- That's code for "I'm not telling you any more spoilers!")
That way, there's always two gods working at the same time, be it Accord and Grogar; Accord and Root; Discord and Grogar or Discord and Root.
Accord is associated with Time and Space, Discord is associated with Shapes and Forms (Matter), whereas Root and Grogar are associated to the Mind. Grogar is just more fond of instincts, desires, free will while Root is more fond of emotions, free thinking and harmony. Grogar begins, Root maintains, Grogar ends and starts anew. Cycle restarts... Accord begins, Discord changes, Accord returns and starts anew. Cycle restarts...
Fun fact: the planet in which Equestria exists in was created by Accord and Grogar.
Fun fact 2: these guys SUCK at coexisting. That's kind of why Root's/Grogar's magic and Discord's/Accord's magic don't mix (see Elements of Harmony hitting Discord, or Plunder Seeds on Tree of Harmony)
I find myself thinking about the name of this blog and the entire lore behind ''the angels lair'' and ''the angels garden'' very often, so i'll be yapping about it for a moment.
Originally, i wanted this blog to feel like the interface of a visual novel, which i found very fitting considering my f/o is from one. But one can only do so much on a blog.. ( ̄ω ̄;)
The idea for the angel's lair came from Lilith's original design when i was little (my first ever design for her was for a mlp rendition where she was princess Luna's daughter, before you say anything, i was 10 years old..) and from the song ''Angel of darkness'', much later i also began associating her with Christine Daaé from 'Phantom of The Opera' and the way she calls the phantom of ''angel of music'', which is why i began calling her the angel.
This blog (much like my neocities page) is meant to be her lair, since she's my sona and can't live in the physical world with me. She loves to see new visitors in her home! Lily is a very friendly girl.
Now for the garden, it's a much sweeter story. Since Ren and her are both idols, they can't make their relationship public or else they'd risk their careers.
Ren (surprisingly) doesn't like to use his family's fortune often, but when he realized he'd have to hide his relationship with his angel, the one person he is obsessed with and wants her to be his forever love, he chose to have the garden built for her in one of their many estates (that later on his brother gifted to him) as a gift for their 3rd anniversary, along with a custom type of rose that only blooms at night that he cultivates himself, thus why i began calling them of the ''midnight rose''.
The garden is their private sanctuary, their little piece of heaven on earth. No one knows the exact location of the garden, as only them (and their daughter, Amelia) are allowed in there, he made sure of it.
No one is going to destroy their peace, he won't allow them..
Also, their garden is the very first thing you see when opening the blog ⤵︎
♡ Bonus - yapping about Ren's obsessive behaviour with her:
To him, Lilith is the epidemy of perfection, she's his goddess and it shows with how he treats her. After they got over the cat and mouse game they had going on in the academy, they began having this beautiful, almost too perfect relationship, all while he hid his more obsessive side from her.
-> bringing this from my rant blog: ''he does everything so they have a healthy relationship, the last thing he wants is to end up hurting the love of life, after all it's his dream to have her by his side forever (...even if it involves a little manipulation pushing..)''
(this was originally written in pt/br)
It's funny to me how Ren can pretend to be this calm, suave ladies man, all while going crazy on the inside wanting to be close to his love and not let her go for a moment. Lilith describes him as her oversized clingy cat, it's very fitting..
He wouldn't ever hurt her or take away her freedom, he's not a monster after all, but he is a little too overprotective, bordering on possessive at times and it's hard to hide it from the one person that can read him like an open book. He tries his best to keep their relationship healthy and normal, but he used to slip up a lot in the beginning, it took months for him to understand and control his feelings.
I'm not saying Lilith is some saint that can do no wrong (he's the one who believes that, not me), she's possessive of him too and can (and will) be very jealous of his fans/admirers. But her behaviour is not even close to his.. I fear this man's mind sometimes..
I might or might not have a yandere!AU planned somewhere, but it needs some touch ups and artwork.. so it'll take a while.
