I need someone to write a Heated Ravelry AU:
Ilya and Shane are both popular knitting and crocheting influencers who “hate” one another.
They’re constantly bitching about one another in their posts and reels/shorts (tongue in cheek, but a lot of their followers think it’s 100% sincere).
They mock one another’s knitting styles, patterns, advice, way of speaking, anything to hook one another into getting flustered.
They’re booked on podcasts together, on panels together at knitting conventions, because people flock to hear and see the yarn fly as they goad one another and rile each other up.
Then fans start noticing blurry shots of them making out behind a spinning booth at a yarn convention in the background of one of Jillian Eve’s videos, and the yarn fandom loses its collective mind.
It’s a huge scandal, because obviously they’be been pretending to hate one another as a bit this whole time just to drive engagement, which is so unethical, right?
They do a joint YouTube video where they hard launch their relationship à la Dan and Phil. They behave just the same way that they always have to one another, except this time they’re touching one another and tousling one another’s hair and kissing one another’s cheeks the whole time.
And the yarn fandom realises that they weren’t putting it on at all: this is just how they flirt.
They become even more popular in the aftermath.
