I feel like yashahime has messed up in the storytelling portion. It's fixable if they fix it SOON. If they don't fix it, there won't be much of a show.
I mentioned before that all I want is for the characters goals to be set up and a few answers given before the end of season 1. Really that's all they need to do, give us some answers, tie some things up, give our characters a long term goal that they can work on while doing the episodic thing.
But I think they've messed up by giving us a story with no foundation.
Each episode seems to base itself on the premise that we have all the foundation we need for this story from the original show, but we don't.
Not only that but they should be assuming that at least some of the viewers have no basis and are watching this without watching the original. They need to give us history.
But the writing on the show seems to tend towards us the viewers needing no information on how these characters got here or why some of them, like moroha, are alone, etc. They just are. Things just are and that's that, move on. But I can't.
Even in inuyasha, while the entire backstory wasn't immediately given, we were given enough to go on within the first few episodes about why the characters were where they are. With each addition to our main cast we were almost immediately given enough information on their history and their goals and why they are the way they are.
And then they built on that
But with this show it's like they are trying to build on nothing. We don't know anything about anyone other than towa... and all we know is she's a good fighter who is kind of a feminist and feels guilty for losing her sister.
All we know of setsuna is that she's stoic for unknown reasons, lost her ability to sleep and dream and say she doesn't care, she hunts demons and doesn't currently care that much for towa but might possibly be warming to her.
And something happened to their father, since his last sighting by us had him as a semi-reluctant ally of our previous heroes, but now he's apparently part of the cause of some unknown problem that has caused our previous heroes some serious unknown problems. Mother unknown.
All we know of moroha is we're aware of who her parents are, she's got some form of unknown debt that controls her life, and was for unknown reasons left alone her whole life with no memory of her parents, no knowledge of who they were or why she alone. She never seems to care about that or care about any information on them, but she knows how to use her powers. We don't know how, and we don't know why no one from her parents life seems to know who she is. But despite that no one seems to hesitate comparing her to kagome... though the resemblance is incredibly slight.
That's our main cast and after 13 episodes we know.... nothing, nothing and more nothing.
This story is being built on nothing.
We don't know what they'll have to face or why, we have no current story arc, no long term goal. We have no history, and only one of them is even mildly interested in their history, and only to a certain point. We have no idea what's really going on.
Honestly if they don't tie it all together soon, they won't build a good show.
And making the only child of our missing previous heroes nothing but comedic relief when she's clearly got some sort of painful backstory... that's not making them any friends. We expected her to be a part of the main cast, but she's the background comedic relief of the main cast, yet her parents are missing with no information, she's in debt, she's had no one her whole life.... and none of that is being explained.
I'd say she's being pushed aside for towa and setsuna... but we're barely getting anything for them either!
I really want this show to work, so I really hope they pull it together with a few well written episodes... but we're in the second half of the season and I'm starting to lose hope.
I am going to word this as respectfully as I can. It’s been interesting to be new to the Inuyasha fandom on tumblr and see so much intense discord between certain shippers or theorists when it comes to certain things in Yashahime. I’ve been on tumblr for a long time and have obviously seen this discord in other fandoms, but none as passionate as this.
There is obviously room for friendly debate, but there have been some posts that have been concerning when it comes to people making other people feeling stupid/ acting extremely rude to people for shipping certain people or having certain theories regarding what the outcome will be in the series.
I understand that the series and the characters in them hold a very, very special place in a lot of people’s hearts (mine as well) but I’d never understood why these discussions have to turn into passive aggressive or just straight up aggressive replies to posts.
The truth is, none of us have the answers, only Sunrise does. Are some theories more probable based on previous facts/ trends? Absolutely. But all of us can interpret things in our own way until the truth is revealed in the series.
All I’m saying is, be respectful and kind to one another. We all love the Inuyasha series and the characters that had grown within it, and for that we have a common bond. Keep these discussions respectful - voice your opinion but don’t chastise others for opposing ones.
Me: *Enjoying "Yashahime" while most of the fandom is a massive shit hole of toxic shippers/ Moroha worshippers who do nothing but bitch and whine while attacking anyone who doesn't agree with them*
Welp anymore proof even Kirinmaru has knowledge it
I'm still confused on how SessRin is a pedophile ship when Sesshomaru has no shown sign of being one.
From what I remember with their travels Sesshomaru has done nothing but gave her independence when they were traveling. He only protected her and been her companion throughout his journey on hunting down Naraku. Then after defeating Naraku he left her in a human village where she could freely choose to do with her own life. Then in a brand new squeal shows that their relationship became an mature adult romance years later on.
To me that doesn't sound like a pedophile.
If he was someone who would've taken advantage of Rin in any way he would've shown it a lot earlier right on the first time she appeared. Yet he allowed her to follow him side by side while having her own freedom.
So how it is pedophile when someone is having their own accord way of doing things and not under someone's else control?
Once more you don't have to ship SessRin to your liking if it does make you uncomfortable I completely understand but calling Sesshomaru a pedophile when people knowing (or suppose to be knowing) how his character is just upsetting
I'm still far catching up with s2 but seeing this scene
Definitely takes after her father 🐶
