Sunrise went out of their way to make sure Moroha would not have any interactions with her parent's friends! Miroku, Sango and Shippo did not give a damn about her existence 🙃 Inuyasha's story was all about finding a place to belong as a hanyo and surrounding himself with people that he loves, so obviously the logical thing to do in a sequel is to make sure all of that was for nothing and his daughter had the same traumatic, lonely childhood he had, right?

Well Yashahime did revive the fandom for a while, until everyone realized it sucked and left again.

I watched the first episode of Trigun Stampede recently and it is so good. I also listened to a podcast with a producer for the series and you can tell the reboot was a huge passion project and a lot of love and care went into it. It's not like Yashahime which only happened because producers wanted to make money and Sumisawa basically had to be forced to come up with a story 🥴 If we had a PROPER reboot that followed the manga and was made by people who actually respect the canon story (NOT Sunrise) I'm sure it would revive the fandom too.

You know this show isn’t canon when you see Kagome running next to Inuyasha instead of Inuyasha carrying her on his back LMAO

Inuyasha looked so pained while Moroha cried. Poor baby girl has been so strong. He held onto her for the majority of the episode too. Kagome should let him clobber Sesshomaru, he had the right idea when he said that.

He really did 😭 That's what's so cruel about the plot of Yashahime, Inuyasha knows what it's like to grow up as a hanyo and without parents, and his daughter went through the exact same thing for no valid reason. I'm sure he's going to be extremely protective of her now that they're reunited, and seeing them cuddle and her ride on his back was so adorable.

Also YES Inuyasha is the only one with braincells in this show I swear

Kagome was like "I'm sure he must have had his reasons" lmao yeah sure he had reasons, but they weren't good ones. Kagome blindly accepting that Sesshomaru separated her from her daughter when she literally had to abandon her own family to be with Inuyasha makes no sense. Kagome was just ooc through the whole episode and it got on my nerves.

I hope you don't mind me bothering you so much. I just watched Only You, Sango and I was really struck by how much care and creativity was put into a filler non-canon episode that centered around the series' B relationship. It's very sad to me that Yashahime couldn't put together a crew of people who had love and respect for the world of InuYasha and all that comes with it.

There is more than one writer in the anime team at Sunrise, which sometimes lead to inconsistent character writing. Inuyasha, for example, will sometimes be an angry jerk who is mean to everyone, and in the next episode he's all cheerful and friendly?

Like in episode 72, I thought Inuyasha was way nicer than he normally is and it was pretty ooc. Except this is obviously less bothersome than him being mean, lol.

So yeah, not all fillers are equal. Some are bad but there are some good ones out there, like the one you mentioned! And the same is true for Yashahime, the writing is insanely inconsistent. Inuyasha in the flashback was stupid and it looked like his character had completely regressed to how he was early in the OG series. But then in his interactions with Moroha he was also surprisingly open and affectionate.

The main writer for Yashahime is Katsuyuki Sumisawa, and from what I can see in his ANN page, he was not responsible for the script of episode 78: Only You Sango. From the interviews he gave about Yashahime it's pretty clear he doesn't understand the appeal of the Inuyasha series and some of the core theme of the series, which is one of the reasons why Yashahime ended up being such a mess. That and the fact that the quality of the writing did not matter since it was only supposed to be a cash grab, lmao.

One tiny detail that annoyed me in the sequel that will not be named is how they showed Inuyasha picking his ear. His dog ear.

Typically in anime when they depict a boy picking his ear it’s to show he’s being disrespectful, not respectfully paying attention, and displaying his immaturity. He was never shown being that immature in the OG anime, definitely not in the manga, yet they decided to show him picking his f***ing dog ear after he became a father. It’s like Sunrise figured out they didn’t make him immature enough in the OG anime and decided to do worse.

Weirdly enough I wasn't really bothered by that scene? I thought it was just something silly, but I hadn't considered that in Japanese culture it might be seen as more disrespectful.

It's definitely a shame that Sunrise didn't want to portray the inu gang (especially Inuyasha) as older and more mature now that they're parents 😪 It would have been great for us fans who grew up with the series, but they didn't really did that series for us. They aimed at a young demographic so most of the characters were made shallow and childish. Like you said, it apparently wasn't bad enough that they dumbed down the characters in the OG anime, lol.

Forgive me if I'm wrong on this, but didn't Sesshoumaru seal InuYasha and Kagome away for protection? I know it was written in a very convoluted and stupid way but wasn't that the justification? In any case, it is awful that Moroha was kept away from her parents but the three of them seem to be cooping with that possibly very traumatic situation very well, so I guess we don't need to be too sad about that. The emotional logic is very weak in this show.

I don't think that Rumiko had much to do with anything besides the designs of the girls. When you sign away the rights to your characters and story, the executives can do whatever they damn well please with it. I mean, look at all the Marvel properties and some of the awful crap that's come out of Phrase 4.

Sesshomaru didn’t seal them to protect them, no. It was even more convoluted than that! He sealed them to protect Rin. You see this woman called Zero connected her life to Rin so if she died, Rin would die too. Sesshomaru and Jaken, like the idiots that they are in this story, thought “Inuyasha and Kagome are a problem, they could kill Zero so we have to seal them away” when the intelligent thing to do would have been:  1- HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH THEM. Literally just tell them “hey don’t kill this women because if you do Rin will die” and that’s it, problem solved. Sesshomaru knows damn well that Inuyasha and Kagome are softies with chronic hero syndrome and they would never do anything do endanger an innocent person like Rin. Not to mention that INUYASHA AND KAGOME DON’T EVEN KNOW ABOUT ZERO’S EXISTENCE? They know about Kirinmaru and his supposed goal to kill all hanyo but they’ve never heard of Zero?? 2- Best way to prevent anyone from killing Zero by mistake: seal HER in the border to afterlife instead of Kagome and Inuyasha 🙃

This is not even addressing all the plot holes and OOC decisions like how only Kagome and Hosenki II saw Inuyasha put the new black pearl in his eye, yet Sesshomaru somehow knew it was there. Or how Kagome gave Moroha to Hachi (why not Shippo??) and stayed to fight Kirinmaru and Sesshomaru WITHOUT EVEN HAVING HER BOW AND ARROWS WITH HER. Inuyasha knows how difficult it is for a hanyo to grow up alone, canon!Inuyasha definitely would have wanted Kagome to stay behind with Moroha to make sure at least one of them is with her. Also sending their 3/4 human baby daughter to Koga and his wolves??? The same wolves who EAT HUMANS??? 

Yashahime truly has some of the worst writing I’ve ever seen in my entire life and I question the sanity of anyone who thinks it’s a worthy sequel to Inuyasha, lmao. Also like you said, all the characters were completely devoid of life and emotions. Inuyasha and Kagome defying time and space to be together, only to be robbed of their chance to raise their first baby? Don’t worry they’re not mad about it because Jaken set up a baby monitor so they got glimpses of Moroha’s childhood from him! 🤪 Also “I’m sure Sesshomaru had his reasons for doing that to us! Let’s not confront him about it!” (seriously Inuyasha and Kagome didn’t have a single interaction with Sesshomaru after all this happened!!!) 

I would be lying if I said I didn’t lose some respect for Rumiko Takahashi as a writer/creator after this. She obviously didn’t review everything that was in the scripts, but she still had an overview of the whole story and she definitely had the power to make them change some of the plot points but she apparently didn’t. It think it’s obvious at this point that she’s tired of the Inuyasha series.

I feel the exact same way. I never cared about Sesshomaru and thankfully Yashahime isn’t canon, but this whole debacle still made me dislike him. I can’t imagine what it was like for people who actually love him as a character. The only saving grace of this show is really the fact that Sunrise made Inuyasha a good father, it would have been so devastating if they had made him a distant, “doing the absolute bare minimum” father like they did with Sesshomaru 😬

Hi! Did they ever address if Miroku and Sango knew Moroha was alive and why she wasn't raised by them?

As far as I know there's (1) scene where they imply that Shippo, Miroku, Sango knew that Inukag were not dead but they didn't know where they were. This contradicts what Sumisawa (the lead writer of Yashahime) said before season 2 aired; he said that Hachi told everyone that Inukag faced off Kirinmaru and Sesshomaru and were probably dead. They also talk about Moroha in that scene:

Sango didn't have any reaction when she heard that 🙃 They just talked about how Kirinmaru wants to attack to they have to go prepare for battle. Remember that Hachi is Miroku's servant and he's the one who dropped off Moroha at the wolf tribe. Sango didn't have any reaction when she heard about Moroha's existence and that she was a bounty hunter. I think this implies that Mirsan knew that Moroha was with the wolf tribe and they just didn't care and never checked up on her. Cool /s.

After that, Shippo went to the gate where Inuyasha and Kagome escaped the border to the after and this is how they reunited:

I can't add more images but after that Inuyasha asked him "What is this? You're not worried about me?" and Shippo was like "Of course not!" and that was it. No hugs, tears or anything. Shippo straight up ignored Moroha's existence. I skipped a lot of episodes after that but as far as I know Shippo didn't interact with Moroha at all in the following episodes either. Miroku and Sango reunited with Inukag last episode and after 14 years all they had to say was "I'm glad to see the both of you are alive!"

This show is a complete joke lmao
