It's In the Air!
Well, earlier I was battling a headache, but ya girl never lets that top her from contributing cute werdo yuri content. So I wrote a fanfic again! Surprise I guess lol. I wanna hear the gals sing the Air Island song so bad so I decided to write it myself! Hope this gives a smile to the face of any other werdo yuri fans out there.
Maggsona forehead kisses...hhnnhhhhhh...
--
It was another peaceful, lovely day on Air Island, in the midst of the Season of Love. The monsters were excitedly chattering among themselves, happily awaiting the time of the daily performance of Air Island’s magical melody. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary – it seemed like just another lovely day on one of the happiest islands around…
*PFFFFFFFFFFFFBT!*
Well, until THAT.
Within the confines of the castle, Parlsona and Tawkerr were watching sympathetically as a pale Stoowarb tossed a wet tissue behind him. “Ugh…I feel awful,” moaned the three-eyed Werdo, before grabbing another tissue from a box of Kaynex besides his bed and explosively blowing his nose once more – emitting a noise so loud that the other two Werdos had to step back a bit. “You poor guy,” Parlsona responded in sympathy, “You can’t go out there and sing like this! Not when you feel like that!” “Yeah,” muttered Tawkerr, “None of the other monsters would want to be sprayed with your germs, either.”
“You’re right,” conceded Stoowarb, between a lot of sniffles, “But then…who’s gonna sing my part?” “Well, it’s not gonna be me,” Tawkerr responded assuredly, “Parlsona called me here to help take care of you. And besides…you know I don’t get along with Smoochle.” “That much is obvious,” chuckled Parlsona. “But w-who else is there?” snuffled Stoowarb, “Yawstritch can’t sing more than two parts at once, Werdos don’t usually sing solos anyway and-” The three-eyed Werdo was interrupted as he let out a messy, loud sneeze, leaving the other two Werdos to shield themselves. “You should just stop talking,” snarked Tawkerr, handing another tissue to the sickly Werdo boy. “Guh…good call,” groaned Stoowarb as he turned onto his side and tried to get some sleep.
As the orange-furred Werdo attempted to get some rest, Tawkerr led Parlsona away from him and told her quietly, “…Why don’t you just get Maggpi to come over?” “I’d love to,” Parlsona chirped, “But…would she be comfortable with that? She’s shy and hasn’t been to Air Island that much in the past…not when the other monsters are performing, anywho. I think she’s afraid she might be judged.” “Come on, Parls, no coward would be brave enough to judge your girlfriend when YOU’RE around,” Tawkerr chuckled, “Every monster knows how much you adore Maggpi…and every monster knows how scary you get when someone picks on her.” “I guess you’re right,” Parlsona giggled in response, “Very well. Let’s bring her over!”
…
It didn’t take much time for Maggpi to arrive upon Air Island via the Skyship. Whenever Parlsona asked her to come anywhere, Maggpi never liked keeping her girlfrend waiting – to be fair though, she never liked to keep ANYONE waiting. Not with that anxiety of hers.
And speaking of anxiety…Maggpi would be lying if she said there wasn’t some in her head right now. Whenever she came to Air Island in the past, it was when all the other monsters were asleep, allowing her and her fellow Werdos to spend some quiet friend time together. Coming to Air Island in broad daylight was new to her…because deep down, the Werdo was always afraid that she’d get judged. The Water Island monsters had always been accepting of her, but the Cold Island-dwellers weren’t so kind.
As a result, Maggpi had always been shy around monsters she’d never met in the past. She just didn’t want to deal with any more ridicule…though she couldn’t blame the Cold Island monsters for liking to make fun of her. She was always so weird and awkward…no wonder she had such a hard time fitting in all her life.
Of course, she did her best to put that all to the back of her mind. Parlsona was waiting for her, and Maggpi wanted to keep a smile on her face for her dearly-beloved girlfriend.
As the periwinkle-furred monster stepped upon the docks of Air Island, she’d barely even had time to think before Parlsona and Yawstritch ran over to her to greet her. “You’re here!” Parlsona chirped in excitement, “Happy Season of Love, my darling!” “Heh…happy Season of Love to you too,” Maggpi responded as the taller Werdo pressed several kisses upon her forehead. “We’re glad you’re here!” Yawstritch told the shorter Werdo, waving one of his wings at her. Maggpi waved back, relaxing a little. Mythical monsters had always been trustworthy figures towards the Werdos – even towards her.
“By the way,” Parlsona told her girlfriend, stepping back a little, “Since it’s the Season of Love and all…” She reached behind her back with one hand and pulled out a big bouquet of red roses, “I thought I’d get you something!” The sight of the lovely bouquet soon had Maggpi’s emerald eyes glittering with wonder. “Oh, wow!” She took the bouquet, hugging it close, “They’re so pretty! Thanks so much!” For a few quiet peaceful moments, Parlsona watched with joy and adoration as her girlfriend closed her eyes and gently breathed in the rich, intoxicating aroma radiating forth from the roses’ petals. It was a delightful, adorable sight for the taller Werdo; she loved how much her girlfriend adored flowers. Especially that cute little ‘aahhhh’ she let out as she savored the luscious scent they gave off.
The moment stayed like this for a bit…just the girls appreciating the soft, quiet, warm space of time they were in…until a loud chime from the castle sounded.
“Girls!” Yawstritch chirped, “It’s almost time for the Air Island song!” “Wah!” yelped Maggpi, snapping out of her trance, “I-it is?! But Stoowarb’s sick! Who’s gonna…”
She realized at that moment that Parlsona and Yawstritch were gazing at her with smiles of encouragement. And that’s when realization hit the Werdo like a bucket of Stonyx crystals.
“Oh, uh…” stammered the periwinkle-furred monster, “You uh…want…” “Well, why wouldn’t we?” Yawstritch crooned, shrugging his wings, “You’re talented and amazing at singing, and Parlsona really loves you!” “I know,” Maggpi responded, blushing at the compliments, “But…do you two really think I’m capable of measuring up to Stoowarb? Everyone here knows how great he is at singing…but I don’t think the other monsters here are used to me…” “Listen, honeycake,” Parlsona took her girlfriend by the shoulders, “I KNOW you’ll do great. And you know you’ll always have my support, and Stoowarb’s, and Tawkerr’s, and Yawstritch’s too. I know you’re a talented singer and I like to think everyone else does too.” The taller Werdo then pulled her girlfriend into a soft hug, “And more than anything…I love it when you and I get to sing together. No matter where we are.”
The gentle reassurances of her girlfriend got Maggpi to relax a little. It seemed that no matter where they were, no matter what the situation they were in, Parlsona was always there to keep a smile on her face. No matter what, she’d always have her back. Good Galvana, she was so lucky.
“Alright, Parly,” Maggpi told her girlfriend, “I’ll give it a shot.” “Yay!” cheered Yawstritch, hovering upwards in happiness, flapping his wings. “We knew we could count on you!” “Thank you so much, my darling!” Parlsona purred with delight, bringing her girlfriend into a kiss, “That’s just one reason I adore you so much!”
…
As the monsters gathered around the island, preparing for the song, several monsters soon noticed Stoowarb’s absence. “Has anyone seen Stoowarb today?” asked a Tweedle, perching upon a rock. “Is he still in the castle?” “Is the pollen count too high?” wondered a Pango, “We know he can’t handle that stuff.” “I don’t think so,” shrugged a Noggin, “The Wubboxes told us the pollen count was supposed to be low today.”
“Guys, guys!” a familiar soprano voice rang out. “Stoowarb is feeling under the weather, so…someone else is here to take over, okay?” Sure enough, the monsters turned around to see Parlsona and Yawstritch arriving at the centre of the island…and next to them, there stood Maggpi. She was shivering in clear nervousness and anticipation – she knew most of the monsters didn’t know her that well…and didn’t know how they would respond to her having to take over for the lovably goofy three-eyed Werdo.
Then…
“That’s fine with us!” a Mammott nodded affirmitavely. “Yeah, we’re good!” bubbled a Toe Jammer. A Riff chimed in with the crowd as they chattered happily, “C’mon, everyone knows how much you two love each other. You two will make for a great duet!”
Maggpi was amazed. The monsters here…they seemed totally fine with the change! It was quite the difference from the way she was treated on Cold Island. The monsters were all so…positive and accepting. “Okay,” blushed the periwinkle-furred monster, “Guess I was worried about a lot of nothing.” “It’s okay to be nervous,” her girlfriend reasurred, “This is pretty new to you. But if the monsters around here were jerks, do you really think I’d wanna stay around here?” “That’s a good point,” chuckled Maggpi, rubbing the back of her head awkwardly.
Yawstritch craned his long neck towards the clock upon the side of the castle, “It’s just about song time, you two!” He flapped off, “I’m gonna take my spot, okay? Good luck, you two!” “Thanks for sticking by us, Yawstritch!” Maggpi called to the feathery monster in gratitude.
All around the two monsters, groups of monsters began warming up for their performance, while excitedly talking among themselves about how cool it was to see Maggpi – the sweetest monster on Water Island – here to sing with them. Admiring the Season of Love scenery all around the island, Maggpi gently leaned against her girlfriend’s side, “Hey…Thanks. Thanks for inviting me over here.” Leaning into her lovers touch, Parlsona responded, with a tone full of tenderness, “And thank you, Maggpi. Thank you for always being by my side, even if it means trying something you’re not used to.” “Hey,” Maggpi chuckled warmly, “If it means it’ll make you happy…I’ll do anything.”
“Alright, everybody!” Yawstritch happily yodelled, “It’s time!” He perched upon the top of a tree, and called loud and clear, “Five! Six! Five, six, seven, eight!”
With all the power and excitement they could muster, the monsters all sung the mighty anthem of their beloved island in the skies. A melody of pure happiness filled the heavens as the monsters danced, chirped, played and celebrated.
And as the sun peeked out from behind the clouds above, it shone its light upon the Werdos…and, with courage and love for her girlfriend fuelling her, Maggpi stepped forth, and…
They say that we are monsters But I don’t really care Just elementary monsters It’s all up in the air!
Parlsona had to fight back the urge to swoon at the sight of her girlfriend so bravely, so happily, singing with pure pride and joy. She knew her girlfriend was perhaps the greatest singer in all of the Monster World, but…wow…seeing her sing this song that meant so much to monster-kind…it was like a dream come true.
Taking hold of one of her girlfriend’s hands, Parlsona gave her a look of pure adoration, and soon, brought her into a slow dance as she sung her own part…
And now that you have landed Together we will share A carefree life for monsters Because here we walk on air!
The two girls held onto one another tightly as they danced together upon the soft surface of the island. They loved being together, so much. No matter what the circumstance…when they were in another’s company, things felt perfect. Things felt beautiful. Things felt just…right.
And no matter what came their way…when they had one another, they felt like they could face anything.
You can see me in the sky And yet you don’t know how to fly And I don’t want to be here alone! Take a chance, just take a step And take a leap of faith with me! Can’t you feel it? It’s in the air!
And, as the song concluded, the girls brought one another into a deep, warm kiss, with Maggpi reaching up on her tiptoes so she could gently push her lips into those of her girlfriend. At the same time, Parlsona wrapped her arms around her lover’s back, holding her warmly and firmly. And all around them, the monsters cheered in joy and excitement, applauding and celebrating the sight of these two lifelong partners. It was the Season of Love after all, and lovers were always welcome here – but, it was more than just that…the monsters were celebrating two girls who were joined at their very heart and soul. They were celebrating a love that would last forevermore.
For in the Monster World, no force was as strong as the might of true, unending love.
