thinking about marcoace pokemon au and how ace probably brought perfectly fine pokemon to marco to get checked out and marco is just like, there’s nothing wrong here 😑 and ace just smiles dreamily and is like, thanks doc! and comes back the next day with an equally outlandish diagnosis that is so far off just so he can stare at the pretty doctor
!!! CRYING
Ok this can work with Pokemon Au, I will make it work
It’s technically the other way round in which before they started dating and eventually getting married, Marco brings his younger Pokémon to Ace’s ranch and daycare to be raised when he can’t himself being head doctor at the main hospital and all
Ace realising he doesn’t want Marco to leave after dropping/swapping Pokémon at the ranch, bc he might be in love and he loves spending time with Marco makes up some crazy diagnosis for one of his permanent ranch members like
“If you have a moment Doctor, I think my Mudsdale has recently developed a lame foot and I’m a little worried about her,” Ace gestures out to the pasture behind them.
Marco hesitates, glancing at his watch and notes he has time, follows Ace out to the equine paddocks.
Whistling sharply to catch the attention of his main farmhand, Ace clicks his tongue and his Mudsdale whinnies in reply as she trots up to the fence.
From a glance Marco can’t see any outward problems with the affected foot, but he takes his time to do a thorough examination on each hoof and leg before deeming Mudsdale perfectly healthy.
“Perhaps it was a stone that initially got caught in her sole that caused her limp, although I’m not a farrier and there’s nothing caught in there now.” Marco dusts off his pants and accepts Ace’s offered hand when he stands up.
“So nothing’s wrong with Betty?“ Ace questions, Marco can’t place the look on his face. The ranch owner looks awed like he’s just gone and done something medically challenging but it was only a check up.
“She’s fine.” Marco reassures the younger man, his hand resting on the gate to leave the paddock. Behind him Betty snorts loudly, clearly in agreement with his diagnosis.
“That’s great news, thanks doc!” Ace grins, hopping up onto the lowest bar on the fence to reach across and unlatch the gate. “Guess I gotta let you get back to your hospital, huh.”
“Yes, I think it’s about time.” Marco replies, amused.
Ace kicks open the gate with flourish, “Aight, get going then Mr. Newgate, it’s a pleasure doing business with you.”
It’s only when Marco is halfway down the lane from the ranch that he realises he never paid for his Azurill’s pick up. Turning on his heel he spies Ace perched on the paddock fence where he left him, he knows he’s being watched so he raises a hand in goodbye, smiling when Ace enthusiastically waves back.
