this is the first time I've got to wear the full suit I made out and I'm really happy with it
I made a thing for the medieval event I'm going to next weekend when I visit @dangercupcakemurdericing
when we first started dating my gf was pretty hesitant that I'd want to do medieval group stuff with her
and here a year into our relationship here's my laundry list of eras and garb i want to play with, medieval recipe research, a pseudonym and my new forays into embroidery
Animal Attraction - Operation Levity.
~ Originally written for the USS Caryl’s‘The Difficult Decision’ fanfiction/fanart Challenge for the prompt: Carol and Daryl finally admit their feelings for one another, but Beth is the catalyst.~
Beth had noticed how caught in her own head Carol had been. She was normally so relaxed at her work. Diligent but able to be fun and sociable at the same time. She knew just why too. It had been purely by accident. She hadn’t meant to see them in the library that morning, they’d been doing their weird little flirting thing, then how Daryl had kissed her then ran. It was an accident, she had just gone to get a book to read to Judith.
“Carol, y’ seem a little distracted today” Beth broke the silence as they sat together peeling potatoes from Ricks patch.
“Sorry, its just… its nothing. Don’t worry about it, Honey” She smiled sadly, up at Beth
“Carol, Please. ‘M not some stupid kid. Please, I- I think I can help”
Carol cocked an eyebrow at her quizzically “Okay, go on”
“So like, feel free to tell me its none of my business or ignore my advice if I’m not right or whatever, since I don’t have so much experience” It was hard to meet Carols eye. She’d stopped peeling and was now focusing solely on her. Carol nodded for her to continue.
“Daddy used to tell me this story, ‘bout these porcupines”
“Porcupines? Are you sure this isn’t a Daryl story?” That eyebrow was up again
“Just listen okay? So these gentle porcupines had family and a mate, but their loved ones weren’t gentle, they had their spines all stuck up and ended up hurting the gentle ones. Now these two gentle Porcupines learned to put up their spines to protect themselves, so they stopped getting pricked themselves.”
Carol looked as though she wanted to interrupt, but held her tongue.
“So now these gentle Porcupines stayed all alone with their spines up, never get’n close to another ‘cause they just hurt each other. ‘Til one day they met each other, got as close as they could without hurtin one another. But they weren’t happy. Not until they both put their spines down were they able to be happy. So, y’get what I’m sayin’” Beth finished playing with her bowl of potato skin uncertainly.
She looked as though she was about to cry “ Thank you Beth. Your dad isn’t the only Greene full of good advice”
Carol stood up and pulled her in for a long hug and broke by kissing her on the forehead. “I’ve got to go back to C block for a while, we’ve got enough for dinner done” As she left she called back to Beth
“I’ve got to see a man about a porcupine”
And Be Even Worthy Of You - Operation Levity
"And so kids, the woodsman had his body rebuilt by the tin smith. But the tin smith couldn’t build all the pieces, he had lost his heart and he forgot how to give love and be loved"
"But miss Carol" interrupted one of the girls at story time "the tin man was so sweet and he helped Dorothy! He was nice even if he didn’t have a heart"
"He did, because he never needed someone else to give him one. It was there all along"
Carol looked up and locked eyes with the barely illuminated figure standing just outside the library door.
“Maybe Dorothy would have forgotten too, all alone in the strange place, if it weren’t for the kindness, love and friendship she found in the tinman. Well, that’s enough for today”
A chorus of disappointed groans went up as the children filed out of the library, passing Daryl at the door.
“‘S a nice story, ‘cept she up and leaves ‘im behind in the end. Went home to Kansas” Daryl spoke out, a little sadly, once the children had gone.
"Better come to the next story time, you’ll find out those magic slippers only take you home. These boot will do the same thing. I’ve only got to walk around to your cell, sounds like such a waste of good magic to me. Could get the pizza boy some courage and a brain for the scarecrow" pointing out the window to Rick in his field.
She took his hand as he scoffed at her joke and led him back toward their cellblock.
