I agree with everything. honestly the rushed episode is a first for shingeki. apparently it’s isayama who has required these changes so I was confident he realised how important some scenes were, and yet…I can only feel bitterness, the pretty visuals and action scenes aren’t enough to distract me lol hopefully they will be integrated in other ways, but like you said the Eren-Historia convo is already done so like…rip beautiful and intimate conversations.
Good to hear the lightning pace isn’t a thing for the series so far so watching it will hopefully be a better experience when I finally get there.
The recent blog post where Isayama feels confident about the anime improving the story is nice I guess and I don’t mind rearranging scenes, but I don’t like how he talks about how the manga chapters are ‘extended and duller’. Please don’t cut out the slow and quiet moments!
Eren and Historia’s conversation is already ruined, but at least we could get a better view of the titan training scene as a flashback. Though I don’t see how cutting back to it later would improve the story/pacing since they didn’t really learn anything particularly useful for the plot and Eren could have his Frieda vision in any scene. Which means no Levi sitting on Eren’s bed nor his terrible communication attempt which needed an interpreter...
