Last night en route to Serena Williams' wedding my Daddy's car overheated so we immediately turned back around. Well, I was actually going to a Prospect 4 event that was being held on a rooftop that was directly across the street from the wedding venue, 🤣. Would have been a perfect view. Earlier that afternoon I got a sneak peek of the setup because Nola folks look out for each other. The police even shooed away the paparazzi but Miss Anne, I got a "Hey baby!" while they blocked the streets off and let me stay. And I met Preston Bailey!!! Anyway, my Daddy took the car to our mechanic whose shop is in the next block. He's taken awesome care of our car and has looked out for my Dad since my Mommy's passing*. The car needs a new water pump that our mechanic will replace in the upcoming days. He told my Daddy, "Buy some antifreeze so Miss Anne can go to Prospect and represent." Basically he was telling me attend, #ForTheCulture Thanks Randy! Please note: 1. #FortheCulture, although it refers to people of African descent, is not monolithic. I am here for ALL of that but I am blessed with many ties that bind. 2. Randy is white. We are elated that he didn't go by way of white flight because he still lives in the neighborhood and has kept his business here. I'm in a Facebook group that former neighbors who flew out of New Orleans proper although they throw all kind of supremacist shade secretly lament that they didn't stay. They destroyed their own sense of community that once was for them. The sweetest karma, our home values now are off the chain but they ultimately sold themselves for cheap. #ForTheCulture #p4Nola #VissidArte #FeastOnYourLife #YeahYaRight #Magnificat ⚜️ ***Note, I sorely need that kind of support. My Daddy is doing way better than I am. Yet, I persist. My mother's superwomaness was the culprit of her illness. There are some things she did not want to pass down to me. This was one of them but that osmosis y'all and that participant observation. I rebuke the superwoman aspects that are not sustainable and uplifting. ⚜️ I am magnificent but I cannot do this alone.
