Wonderful World Fan Fictions Part 8 

Chapter 8

Falling 

“I am sorry Soo Hyun, I went too far. I know you are still sick. Forgive me.” Please rest. Seon Yul lips whispered to her ears and touched her cheeks gently while stepping back from her slowly. He then walked away. 

Soo Hyun stood there for a minute or two like she is at a crossroads. Time is standing still. What the hell just happened? In her mind she is saying these words. She was shaking. Is this all but a dream? Is this even real? Her thoughts betray her. This is real whether she admits it or not. Whether she likes it or not. 

Perhaps Seon Yul went too far to finally confess his real feelings for her. He is impatient and never was able to wait even when he was young. He can’t wait for his gifts to be opened on his birthday. He can’t wait for his parents to come home. He wasn’t able to wait for his revenge. He went too far and perhaps he thought, this is payback. He can never have what he truly wanted or that maybe it is already a lost cause. She is a lost cause. 

He sighs and he remembers this is his last week on volunteer duty and partly that’s one of the reasons why he rushed things with her. He doesn’t want to go back to his real work without knowing what she felt or knowing what he truly feels and express it. Seon Yul decided it is time to go back to his real world- the hospital. The 3 days he had left were in complete agony as he and Soo Hyun barely talked and rarely had eye contact. She is up and about now. He is relieved she is healthy again but she looks at her differently and is conscious towards him. She is very uncomfortable with him and he doesn’t like it at all. He feels if this is the price of his “feelings” then he would rather stay as a friend or nothing at all. He cannot afford to be a stranger again to Soo Hyun. That is how much he loves her and even he can’t believe how much he has fallen. 

Dear Soo Hyun, 

I am terribly sorry for what happened 3 nights ago. It wasn’t planned but I meant every word. I don’t want to force you on to something you are not ok or ready for but I am not sorry for saying how I truly feel. I don’t know when my feelings towards you changed. All I know is even when I was taking a revenge on you, I never truly wanted to hurt you. I did want to punish you but I also punished myself. I was obsessed with my revenge on you. Yet, you always amaze me with how you respond to each of my painful act towards you. It annoyed me and scared me all the same. Was the hate I felt towards you actually love? I asked myself many times already. When I saved your Mom, when I saved you, when you were in danger, I was willing to die for you. It was a strange feeling. The truth is, I wanted to confess when we went to the tree of “hope and wishes” as you called it but you were ready to bid me goodbye and you were smiling. It hurt a bit that you were saying goodbye and I believed you that its the right thing to do even if I don’t want to part really…from you. I said to you that “yes you killed me when you killed my Father…but you brought me back to life when you showed me you truly cared for me one way or another”. You are my weakness and my strength. I am numb with pain, just like you but what I feel for you is real. I know the Gods must have done this to punish us but I don’t care. However, I care about you. I care about you more than anything and that I would never force you to be or to feel something you don’t want to or have. You are right. I know you will always do the right thing and by choosing not to love me back is the right thing to do. As always, you are right. I want us to be ok. I don’t you looking at me like I am wounded. I am not a victim of your doing or of love. I chose this life. I chose to love you even if it is forbidden in the eyes of many and yours. I am leaving the orphanage not with a heavy heart but with gentle one. I am contented with adoring and loving your from afar and will do it as long as I can. I wish you all the happiness in the world and I truly want you to be happy. Please take good care of yourself. I am ok please don’t worry about me. 

Thank you Soo Hyun and goodbye.

Soo Hyun was shaking when she was reading his letter. She was crying at the thought of his real feelings towards her. She never knew he felt this way and never knew it could hurt her like this. She feels he is saying goodbye, for good. 

Seon Yul left so early that Soo Hyun wasn’t able to see him. He meant for it to be that way. He can’t look at her and not touch her again. Her face, her lips and her skin made him feel butterflies and pure magic, the thought of those alone send shiver through his spine. He smiles and nods, and smiles again acting like a school boy in love. Yet Seon Yul knew, the reality is fast approaching and he is going back to where he belongs. Perhaps it is too much to ask of her and of his life. He was given another chance at life. Why would he be greedy to ask for more? 

Weeks has passed and both Soo Hyun and Seon Yul tried their best to move on and do their daily routine like nothing ever happened. Seon Yul got the highest score in their exam and is contemplating where to get his short course degree on Cardiology. His choices are Japan, Germany and India. Yoo Ra chose Germany and Soo Jin chose Japan. Initially, Seon Yul choses India. 

Soo Hyun has a another work now. She is back teaching at a University. She missed teaching college students. She was offered to teach graduate school, too but opted to decline for now to spend more time with her mother and the orphanage. With each passing day, Soo Hyun remembers Seon Yul. Actually she misses him but won’t admit it, ever.  

Soo Hyun spent sleepless nights thinking about Seon Yul. How is he? She thought and then brushes off her concerns. She looked at her Mom and tells herself, she did the right thing. Love is not her priority nor her happiness. She believes when her son died so was her heart and happiness. One sunny morning, Soo Hyun was combing her mother’s hair when she asked Soo Hyun about Seon Yul. “That handsome boy, where is he now? He hasn’t visited me again”. Soo Hyun laughed and answered, “Who, Seon Yul? You got great eyes, Mom but sadly, he won’t come again”. Why is that, she replied. Because I hurt him enough, he deserves better”.  Soo Hyuns Mom might be sick but from time to time, she is well and back to her senses. She uttered these words to he daughter “That boy looked at you like you are his saving grace. That boy was always alone and lonely when eating at our restaurant. The only time I saw him smile was when he told me he was waiting for a friend that didn’t come, and I guess that was you. Don’t be so hard on him”. Soo Hyun was shocked to hear those words and her mothers memory of those years. But like all dementia cases in the world, it doesn’t last long. She then looks for her grandson and cries again believing he just left but never gone. Soo Hyun hugged her tightly and hush her , gave her medicines and waited for her to sleep. 

Soo Hyun tooked the courage the next day to call Seon Yul. His phone rang but nobody answered. Seon Yul, Yoo Ra and Soo jin were out partying, doing KTV and drinking. Its their last weekend together before their short course training abroad. Yoo Ra saw Seon Yul’s phone renging and saw the name “Soo Hyun”. At first she didn’t mind it but by the 3rd call, she answered it. 

Hello? Yoo Ra answered. She is somehow tipsy already.

Umm.. Im sorry, is this Dr. Seon Yul’s phone number? 

Yes, it is. Hi Dr. Soo Hyun, its Yoo Ra. How are you? 

I am fine and you? 

I am fine, too. We are fine actually. Sorry we are out and its kinda rowdy in here…at the bar. 

Are you celebrating? 

Yes because we will go abroad, finally. It always our dream. 

What? 

We are leaving in 2 days. Seon Yul and I will go to Germany. 

I see. I am sorry to intrude tonight. Please enjoy your party. Goodbye. 

Soo Hyun hang up the phone almost immediatelh. Her heart was beating so fast and she was nervous. She was feeling a lot of tension. She was feeling angry and sad. Is she jealous?. He is leaving? With her? Abroad? 

Seon Yul came back to the room and saw Yoo ra putting his phone down. He asked what she did to his phone and she told her “She called”. Seon Yul rushed to his phone and checked it. Then, he put it down again and breathe heavily and deep. “It doesn’t matter” he says. 

What did she say? 

I told her we were leaving. You and I. She hang up the phone immediately. 

Soo Jin intervened and said “You silly girl. You shouldn’t have done that”. 

It is ok. It doesn’t matter anymore anyway. I have moved on. She should, too for the good of everyone. 

Soo Jin went over to Seon Yul and asked him “you are not running way , are you?” You spent so much time chasing her and now you are running away? 

I am not running away. I am moving on…from the past, from her. This is the right thing to do. She would do the same. I am just following what she wanted. 

At the airport, Seon Yul is waiting for Yoo ra , she is late. Seon Yul is close to irritation the she doesn’t answer his calls. It is boarding time already. “Where is she?” Just when he was about to call all her again, she poked at him and said “Im here haha” Seon Yul rarely gets angry but this time he is actually. “What the hell is wrong with you? We are leaving now!”. 

Alright. Don’t freaking be mad now. I had a good reason. 

And what would that be? 

HER. 

Yoo Ra pointed at someone behind Seon Yul’s back. 

HER is SOO HYUN. She is dressed in white coat and inside a lavender turtle neck. She is so beautiful, he thought. 

Listen, I am gonna check in. I am going to Luxemberg instead, Seon Yul. 

Seon Yul is not listening at all. 

Yoo ra smacked his head and said “Hello, I haven’t heard the word Thank you yet, your Highness”. 

What? I…don’t understand. Seon Yul replied. 

I’ll be at luxemberg and you will stay at Birkenfield, still. I am not gonna be the 3rd wheel, ok?. She said that laughing and winking at both Seon Yul and Soo Hyun and walking away to check in her baggages. 

What are you doing here? I don’t understand. How did you know about our flight? 

Yoo ra told me. 

She did? 

Yes. 

She likes you, you know that’s why she did it. She loves you. 

And I already told you my answer about that. Are you here to talk about her? 

“NO”. Soo Hyun stepped forward to him, closer. I am here to talk about US. 

Seon Yul look at his watch and said “I am leaving in a bit, you have to talk a little faster”

Soo Hyun is sighing and catching her breath," YOU left without saying goodbye at the orphanage". 

I wrote you a letter. 

I read it. 

So, therefore, I said goodbye. 

Will you stay this time?

I don’t have a reason to stay. 

But if I asked, will you stay? 

NO, I won’t. Seon Yul is resisting to smile. He knows why she is doing this. She is teasing her. He added “You know I will be back after 5 weeks” 

That’s why I asked”, Soo Hyun replied with a smile, too. “I will wait for you then… to come back” 

Whatever for? Why? He asked back. 

Hmmmm...I’d like to date you. So I can take you out for lunch or dinner, or maybe breakfast? She is rumbling her words and she is so damn nervous. 

Butterflies felt all over Seon Yul’s body upon hearing those words. He is grinning from ear to ear. 

Hmmm…am I late, already Seon Yul? 

You have the worse timing ever, Soo Hyun. 

Can we keep this a secret for awhile? 

We will be living a lie, Soo Hyun 

But…its just that…what matters is you and I…for now 

Seon Yul wants to hug her so bad and yet he is still unsure. “Soo Hyun, you don’t have to do this, you know. I am not running away from you..I understand your not”… Unable to finish his sentence, Soo Hyun rushed towards him and hugged Seon Yul abruptly. Soo Hyun is so tender and soft. Seon Yul feels the world is coming to an end but he doesn't care if this is the last feeling he will ever get. The 1st time ever , they hugged. She whispered in his ear, “I know but I want to. I don’t yet know what my true feelings for you but I am ready to try, if you still have me”. I’m sorry”

Now she is the one in his ear. Seon Yul felt dizzy and time stood still for both of them. Is she gonna kiss me? Seon Yul in his loud thoughts. Then Soo Hyun smirked and did a step back and said “it is payback for what you did do me last time”. 

Both laughed crazily. 

Hey, crazy love birds, sorry but unless we have our own plane then we can delay but we don’t! Yoo Ra is pissed off at them already

I have to go.. There is no turning back now? Are you sure? 

Yes, I am sure, Seon Yul. 

Then, I will come back for you. Wait for me then. He moved closer to her and held her hand. He caressed her cheeks and God knows he wanted to kiss her right there and take her…in the lips but he restrained,still. Softly he grabbed her face, moved his lips closer to hers and breathe into her but moved his lips and kissed her forehead instead like she is the most precious thing in the world to him. 

She is.

Walking away now, God he misses her already. He is the happiest that he’s ever been and he looked back and semi- shouted 

I’ll call you when we landed. 

I’ll wait, she responded. 

Falling like the stars, they are finally falling in love.
