Ok, so... unfortunately Year 2016 definitely wasn't a bounce back from a very disappointing 2015. Actually, it set a new low bar for a bad year. I'm honestly a little embarrassed for the playlists. Let's consider them placeholders until I have more time to dig deeper and discover more good songs that surely have to be around.

I feel like pop music is in a really weird place right now because I think when it comes to lyrics, there has been a huge improvement regarding complexity of the themes and overall, the lyrics are definitely more thought provoking. But most of the time, these improved lyrics are wrapped in inferior musical arrangement - subjectively. I'm not super concerned, though. I know trends in pop culture are circular instead of linear. Sooner or later, pop music will come back to be more to my tastes again. Already, there are signs.

As for the top 10 of the year... yeah, that was a real struggle, too. I had already come to terms to giving it to Imany, because the remixed version of the song really is a banger and the video has French lesbians, the best kind of lesbians. But then, literally the last song I listened to by Bat For Lashes stole the top spot. (also it has like 80k streams, so you know I'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel to find gold nuggets)
