25 Things I Learned 2015
1. Don’t put yourself into one of their categories. Labels are limiting and you are not limited: you are limitless. 2. Follow your process, but also adapt. Embrace unexpected opportunities. 3. Stand up for what you believe in and let no one take it away from you. Don’t even waste your time trying to convince them. 4. Always show up. 5. Don’t get attached to what you think you know about yourself. 6. Have less, do more. 7. If you think you can do it, you really can. Period. 8. Do it as soon as you can, the best time to start is now. 9. Every one is just as scared as you are. No one really knows how to build a life. Stop thinking you’re different. 10. Learn to live on as little as possible. The less you need, the better you will feel. 11. There is no set schedule for your life. Define your life in your way. Define success in your way. 12. Talent means nothing, it’s all will. 13. Aim to make things better instead of bigger. 14. Friends are hard to find. Take care of them when you do. 15. Become a minimalist. People only use material belongings to cover up for a poor internal life. 16. Spend time with all kinds of people, they will teach you all kinds of lessons and unravel all parts of your hidden personality. If you only spend time with like-minded people you’ll never expand your way of thinking. 17. Keep your spiritual practice and inner development to yourself. That’s also a part of the practice. 18. Learn to let go. Nothing is static. 19. Work for something that is bigger than you. 20. Eat foods from the ground. Meditate. Read. Try not to thing dark thoughts before midnight. 21. Time spent on seeking inspiration is not wasted. 22. Stay up the whole night when you feel like it. Go to bed before it’s dark and wake up while the world is still asleep, when you feel like it. To experience a place at different hours of the day is like experience two different places. 23. Be an idol and you will get followers. Be yourself and you will get friends. 24. Don’t try to fix people. Instead inspire them to fix themselves. 25. Your only task is to live.

2013 album of the year
This year has been incredibly good for new music, in my opinion. Some times these top 10 lists are hard to assemble, but this year it has because it has had to come down from around 18 records! This is just compiled of the classic interpretation of an album. 10+ & at least on one 12". 1. ONSIND - Anaesthesiology Easily number one. Probably number one for my favourite album this decade. Fantastic and inspiring lyrics, song writing & stories. And so much more. Download this record here at whatever price you would like: http://onsind.bandcamp.com/album/anaesthesiology 2. Paramore - Paramore The evolution of this band has blown me away. Forever growing, in every way you would like a band to do so. Still keeping hold of aspects of themselves but constant progress. I am convinced Hayley's career will go the way of Gwen Stefani, and I couldn't be more excited to see it unfold! The band isn't just Hayley, but whereas musically there is a lot of different influences & sounds pushed, Hayley really has found herself both lyrically and vocally. Read this great interview with her; http://m.rollingstone.com/music/news/paramores-hayley-williams-talks-slaying-sexism-her-oddest-tour-rider-20131011 3. NONA - Through The Head NONA have been a band for nearly 3 years now, but truly I believe this record was really the start of them. A new line up and most definitely a new sound. Out goes the pop punk and in came a huge wall of sound influenced by Smashing Pumkins, Superchunk, etc. But with the energy & speed of the punk bands that you could hear in the sound they seem to be shedding. I was never the biggest fan of this mix, I just didn't think it was powerful enough, and this record is being remixed and mastered and rereleased on 6131 records in the new year! Fall in love with this record and nerd out to some of these lyrics with me! "SAY SOMETHING NICE TO ME, ILL CALL IT A VICTORY!" http://nonawc.bandcamp.com/album/through-the-head-2 4. Hookworms - Pearl Mystic I have no idea what this sounds like. Maybe it doesn't sound like anything else, or maybe it's just so far away from my musical sphere. All I know is that this is amazing! Perfect to listen to on dark commutes home. Brilliant band, that do it all on their own terms, which is great to see! http://gringorecords.bandcamp.com/album/pearl-mystic 5. Arctic Monkeys - AM I havent actively listened to anything that AM have released since their first record. I believe this is their fourth. It was recommended so highly I went out and bought it, and it is brilliant. So much swag, so simple but just ideal. The production is brilliant. The music is so bluesy, so riffy but at the same time I think its so hip hop. I can't get over this record! 6. Jungbluth - Partache This is the only "heavy" record that has held my attention span this year. One of the heaviest bass sounds I have ever heard! I was lucky enough to see them at CMAR & in London, but wasn't overlly blown away, but on record this is so powerful! Some very melodic parts that just push the darker parts. The artwork and record art is brilliant also! http://jungbluth.bandcamp.com 7. Los Campesinos - NO BLUES This will almost undoubtedly be the record I put in then realise it was too low within the first month of the next year. Los Campesinos have really pushed themselves for this record. A lot more electronic than ever before, but still the Los Camp that you'll know and love. Seems to have pushed against Hello Sadness' moody ballads and gone full on pop a lot more. I can't wait to fall for this record even more, with more listens. http://m.soundcloud.com/los-campesinos 8. RVIVR - The Beauty Inbetween This is the first RVIVR record I have ever listened to all the way through, and it was on recommendation from a lot of friends. This is a very bold record to have made, and I think it's all the greater for it. It sounds frustrated & angsty but at the same time it is so beautiful. So many melodies, from the vocals to those little guitar licks and they just work so so well! http://www.rumbletowne.com/rtr/rtr-releases/RTR017 9. T-Shirt Weather - Having A Bad Time Upon first listen I think this record can be quite abrasive & agitating, but once you get past the recording levels you'll realise just how great these songs are. So many subtletys that you can pick up on with listen after listen, and some great listen. I think people can be lazy with their descriptions of this band, I never see people write about the pop punk sensibilities of The Undertones & The Only Ones but that's where I think you can find the FFO:'s for this band. Take note of this band, have a listen. http://tshirtweather.bandcamp.com/album/having-a-bad-time 10. Tegan & Sara - Hearthrob What's not to like? Brilliant synth pop. It doesn't come off on every song on this record but when it does (it does more than it doesn't) it really is great! A lot of these records are by in dependant artists & put out by independent record labels. Support them!
