For me, this year is all about cultivating inner peace and patience, and Imani as I move forward intentionally and strategically with my goals set firmly in place.
This year is for remembering to nurture myself as I continue to develop as a creator, connector, sister/sista, photographer and business woman.
For me, this year is about continuously recognizing and steadily ridding myself of whatever it is that stops so many of my projects and ideas right on the cusp of fruition.
(fear? laziness? lack of ambition? not enough closet space? fluoridated water? white sugar??)
Either way, hear me when I say -
This. IS. The. Year.
2016 definitely feels like that year..
wait hold the phone I just accidentally figured out how to type in superscript
It feels like...
...a year packed full of innovation and collaboration.
...a year of practicepracticepracticepracticepractice...
...a year of progress, measured in baby steps or giant leaps.
Like lots of learning curves.
Like some friggin’ actualization.
Like a year of no procrastinating.
Like a year of prioritization.
Like a year of crossing off all the tasks of my to-do list.
Like year of using my resources efficiently and strategically.
Like a year of harnessing our power, refining our craft, and pushing our own boundaries.
A year of critical consciousness.
A year of not accepting the official story & a year of doing your own research.
A year of reading actual books and a year of sharing what was learned.
Please let 2016 be a year of informed dialogue.
It feels like a year of fitness: mental, spiritual, physical.
Like maaaaaybe just maybe I’ll wake up and go to that aerobics class.
Or maybe not.
A year of remembering that the Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday.
(Yes, every single Saturday, excluding holidays. Thursdays, too!)
A year of melanin, and the recognition of the global connection that it represents.
A year of practicing true unity in my family, community and nation.
A year of defining myself through, our creations and our language to represent the evolution and ascendance occurring within our people and our community.
A year of recognizing and identifying with the power of (me), and the power of (you) my brothers and sisters. A year of making a personal, spiritual and financial statement by investing in that power.
A year of putting your money where your mouth is and supporting all things locally owned and operated.
A year of growing our community into a place more beautiful and beneficial than ever.
A year in which we recognize, appreciate and utilize the strength and determination that we posses as people.
A year in which we recognize our ancestors and elders with the reverence they deserve.
our teachers, our leaders, so that they may raise a generation of individuals who understand and innerstand the value of humility and personal responsibility.
A year of building up and maintaining our community, together.
A year with no place for a “
A year of saying fuck it to those things, experiences, people and habits which do not feed your soul or serve your greater purpose.
A year of leaving those old, tired excuses IN. The. DUST.
No more “I’m busy”.
No more “I don’t have time”.
No more of the “same old same old”.
Just one solid year of making it happen, captain.
If you feel like I feel, namaste. I hope that our connection inspires you to cultivate or continue to fertilize your own beautiful something. Maybe we can grow together? Find me on social media (@supadupacam, @theartofmisc).
