one thing i hate about muuhonum and glori is that theyre both nb and there is no widely accepted terms for uncle/aunt that i can use. so i just have to described them as dravuleans sibling, and dravuleans sibling’s partner. absolute fucking nightmare.

i could easily make one up, and it would likely come from an elven term since they wouldnt differentiate by gender (because, yknow, historically there was no elven gender). which could be fun. i might look into that. it’d’ve been butched to shit over time by the general phonemic incompatibilities of vostan and elven, but it would be very cool to have. id probably need to make terms for parent first. and would they differentiate between your aunt by blood and your aunt by marriage? that distinction is probably lost in vostan, but its fun to look at. i feel like it would be useful to be able to point out whether this relative is related to you by blood or not, irrespective of imperial incestuous shenanigans. its only really relevant for nonbinary family members, but, idk. i think its cute.

relatedly, i could also engineer gender neutral forms of lord/lady duke/duchess etc using some sort of elven word ending? but im generally assuming in vostan that it should have already made that distinction in the past. but maybe they didnt. maybe it was just ‘pick whichever title you like best’ Hence Muuhonum and Glori (two nonbinary individuals) being the Marquis and Marchioness respectively, though they could have picked basically any combination of the two terms. it was more... just what they felt like. plus Glori was also being called a Lady prior to this, so it was probably a natural conclusion for them to selection Marchioness. since gender is a lil less rigid in SFY, its not as big a deal.

the downside to engineering gender neutral noble terms is that i think it would require me to just. make noble terms in vostan? instead of just using the existing english terms. so its a big over complex for me. making a setting-specific gender neutral form of aunt/uncle as well as a term for that person who isnt related to you? gucci. making setting-specific and likely regionally-diverse terms for noble terms and then giving them a gender neutral form resulting from another languages word ending? no! no! stop while youre ahead.

so yeaaaa i might make some familial terms for elves and then adapt a couple of them into vostan! :D that’ll be fun!
