Yeenora, all grown up!
The kittens popped out from under a cabbage leaf and Yeenora... did not.
Balfas deserves child support.
it's finally time to rename the boys with proper non-silly names: Joe is keeping his name, technically, Benjamin's getting called Benji, and Kahlasan's probably getting called Hasan. ft. their scary little sister
None of the kids have a last name because Balfas hasn't picked one for himself either, but they don't really need one anyway. If they need to, they either make one up, use one of Balfas' aliases, or pick Taro, KING, or Elizarith's.
EDIT: added the whiskers I forgot
Single Father Balfas and his mismatch kids. He didn't want any of them but he loves them now and he will kill you about it.
Amber, beloved, there are potential spoilers below:
I'm caught up on the idea of Balfas trying to be a good big bro/dad all the kids he's ended up with (despite not wanting ANY of them) and it absolutely keeping him up at night. He knows he wants to be better for them than he had, so he's studying any other families he sees and asking KING and Taro all the time about their childhoods and how KING raised his kids.
I think he's not a strict parental figure in any way - sure, go run amuck. He doesn't care what you do as long as you don't get caught, and will actively teach his kids how to steal and lie and kill just trying to prepare them for the world. When he's serious he needs them to listen, but the rest of the time he's content to get crawled on and chewed on and not really know where they are. When he calls out to them, he expects them to answer, and god helped them (or whatever has them) if they don't.
I think he's also drilled into their heads a hierarchy of people to trust: themselves (as individuals) more than anything, themselves (the three of them) more than anyone else in the world, him as their dad, KING and Taro as their uncles, and then really no one else. Be polite and respectful, sure, but be cautious and trust your gut.
I think he's also sat them down and had them choose a handful of locations around the map to meet up if they ever need to run for their lives, and has a game plan in place to have them smuggled to a safehouse via his shady connections if they ever don't have anywhere else to go. (Raloric's gonna be so broken hearted that Balf didn't bring the grandkids to see him before then, but w/e.)
