one thing that i find really interesting is the role of dan from the original short story to the movies . in herbert west: re-animator dan didnt technically exist as he would be the narrator/herberts assistant , the narrator only stayed out of fear knowing what herbert was capable of - like sure the narrator had that mild interest in re-animation but only at the beginning . there is no reason for dan to be helping herbert at all in the movies , they barely knew eachother when herbert started experimenting in dans basement , dans fear SEEMED (could be reading it wrong) to be more on the corpses and how other peoples lives were hurt rather than fear of herbert or anything like that . bride of re-animator makes no sense at all for dans character unless we go with the queer reading (which yeh that queer coding was intentional theres no way its not) and that he still interested in re-animation but not what herbert is doing … idk if this makes sense im just rambling
