ok i’m still seeing some upset posts from asian bloggers along the vein of “you’re all racist, no one wants asians to have a thing”. listen, the issue with “asian invasion” or “yellowout” isn’t that asians want to celebrate during asian-pacific heritage month. we should be searching for more ways to showcase our cultures and diversity. it’s that literally as soon as #blackout struck midnight, ya’ll were demanding that we have an asian selfie day too. you barely even waited for #blackout to settle, even though heritage month is in may and you could’ve waited an appropriate amount of time before bringing up mobilizing the asian community. and the whole tone was not “wow look how inspiring this was, it would be great if we could organize something for our own communities” but “OK BUT WHY NOT YELLOWOUT TOO TUMBLR ONLY CARES ABOUT THE BLACK STRUGGLE”. the issue is the fact that a lot of you who have barely shown any interest in mobilizing the vast asian tumblr community were suddenly super invested in doing a selfie day conveniently, really conveniently, right after black tumblr & twitter put all this effort and time into creating their own day. it’s extremely reactionary and telling, and if you got an immediate knee-jerk reaction of WHY NOT US?? when you saw #blackout, I think you need to examine why exactly you felt that way
