It’s rather more complicated than that. Yenniku is the quest giver’s chieftain’s son, but the chieftain is question is never referred to by name. It would seem logical to assume it’s Vol'jin, except that Vol'jin never, ever mentions having a family, and none is present at his funeral. He mentions a “she” in Shadows of the Horde, which in the context sounds like a wife or a girlfriend, but no one knows who he was talking about. On the other hand, in the same book there's a female troll who sort of comes on to him, and he never once says he's taken, not to her, and not to the reader through his private thoughts. Additionally, if his racial leader short story is still canon, Vol'jin couldn't have been older than in his teens when Yenniku was given away. So, it's complicated.
Ah, Ok! Thank you for your long and good reply about Yenniku! Somehow, I also have a feeling Yenniku is not Vol’jin’s son and he doesn’t have a family (like I pondered in the earlier post about Vol’jins time line; he was young, no much time went through between he becoming Darkspear’s leader and then Horde Warchief. At what point he has time to father children, who are adults by the time he dies? Especially if Yenniku is his youngest, did he like, bust a nut at age 13 and become father for his oldest. Unlikely, if you ask me.)
Also the fact that there is no one present from his family when he’s dead strikes odd. Nor he never mentions them.
Thank you for also clarifying the book content!
Yenniku is cute nevertheless :D

this is news to me, huh
For me, too! In the post I reblogged someone says that it is most likely Yenniku is Voljin’s younger brother - which personally would make more sense to me.
Or that Yenniku is the other troll’s son, can’t remember his name but he ask the player to go look for Yenniku in the first place.
Could you speak about your son, Yenniku? Who is his mother, do you get on well with mih? I'm realy curious. Thanks mon!
Ah, Yenniku… dat be no small tragedy. I suppose I can, if dat’s whatchya really be wantin’. Aldough some o’ da tings ya be wantin’ to know, I wanna be keepin’ to meself. Tings always been.. complicated, when it comes to me youngess’.Da relationship we ‘had’s not like da one wit’ me an my faddah.
I’m not gonna tell ya who his moddah be. Dat’s sometin’ we be keepin’ to each oddah. All I can tell ya be dat she be a Troll, an’ dats dat. No name, no status, not even tribe. Don’ go askin’ me any furder dere.
I be sure all ya who know who he was, know da history he went t’rough. For dose of ya dat don’, he was born before da Darkspear broke from Stranglet’orn, before we joined wit’ da Horde. Back den, we owed da Gurubashi tribe for deir “protection”. Lotta good DAT did…
Deir price fo’ keepin’ us alive, be da souls an’ bodies of our children. Dey’d take our young an’ bring dem up in da ways o’ da Gurubashi as slaves an warriors. I still remembah da dey dey came an’ demanded da youngest grandchil’ o da chief… Ya have no idea what Sen’jin went t’rough to hold me back.
I loss’ me youngess’ boy dat day, an’ I nevah saw ‘im again. Years passed, an’ da T’rall came wit’ his Horde. He came also wit’ a promise of a bettah life, one we could not refuse. Sad to say, we left Yenniku behind for a new home.
Den, Zanzil happened…
If I could go back and relive me yout’ful days wit’ da knowledge an powahs I have now, I’d nevah let ‘im or any oddah Darkspear Troll fall into da hands o’ da Gurubashi. Instead o’ takin’ our children, I’d take deir heads.
Who is Yenniku?
…Ah. I tink I know what dis be about. Ya be wonderin’ if Yenniku be me son, yah? I know dere be some confusion about dat topic. I don’ know how dis all came about, to tell ya da truth.
Da answah be dat Yenniku be da son o’…wait…hold on…I juss’ received a letta from Thrall. It seems I be needed in congratulatin’ an adventurah for ‘im service to da horde. I tink I’m gonna promote dis one to general. Excuse me.
