Title: Seoulmates Rating: Teen and Up Audiences Pairing: Keum Seong-je/Yeon Si-eun A/N: This is my entry to SJSE Week 2025, Prompt Day 2: Soulmates. Very last minute and late. Word count: 8,342
Excerpt:
As he reached the entry, he could see a woman in an intricate outfit walk towards him. The moment those huge glass doors slid open, he heard her greet him with a smile on her face, "Welcome, welcome!" She bowed respectfully and Si-eun mirrored her actions before they started to walk through the entrance hall together. "You must be our two p.m. appointment— Yeon Si-eun?" She asked and Si-eun noticed the name tag she wore: Hwa Su-min.
"Yes," he politely answered, "your website looked interesting," he mentioned, "is Seoulmates considered a traditional matchmaker or a dating service?" Si-eun wanted to know, "it wasn't quite clear."
Su-min smiled at him, a bit too friendly, "Both," she replied, "we at Seoulmates like to combine tradition with technological advancements," she explained, but her tone shifted the slightest bit. Si-eun assumed she must have a script in her head and everything that derived from that visibly annoyed her. "Don't worry, we have a ninety-eight percent success rate," Su-min told him unprompted, "we will find the perfect partner for you!" The way her voice pitched higher at the end caused Si-eun to force his facial expression to show absolutely not what he was thinking, but goddamn, did he want to raise an eyebrow.
"You're my only hope," Si-eun noted, putting the pressure on right away. In the past, he had been too friendly, too understanding. Now he wanted results— and he didn't even care what kind. If they wouldn't find his perfect match, then maybe Si-eun wasn't meant to be with anyone.
They entered a glass office and Su-min motioned for Si-eun to take a seat. "You're a very handsome man, Yeon Si-eun-ssi," she remarked, "I'm curious why no one has snatched you off the market yet?" She typed something into her computer— Si-eun guessed it must've been her password by the lengths of it.
"It might be my high standards," Si-eun answered truthfully, but also to gauge her reaction. If she decided he was too difficult to deal with, due to being picky, his chances to find someone might drop to zero. Si-eun rather found out about it right away and save them both the time. "Or the fact that my interest lies with man."
"Pardon?" Su-min blinked at him.
Si-eun sighed, the website had been unclear, but from what he could tell it looked like they also offered to find same sex partners. "I'm not looking for a wife," he said, "I want a husband."
