Sherlock was getting used to getting random texts and e-mails, or even quickly jotted little notes, but not something like this. This was an entirely hand written letter, the lettering scrolling and spinning in curls and flourishes. Sherlock had at first dismissed it, thinking it come kind of fan letter from a female, but when he looked again, he realized that it was merely an old style of writing done by a man in fact.
Sherlock had read the letter several times, it detailing a case that this gentleman wanted him to take. Even the speech was old in a way. Normally he didn’t take cases like this, with nothing more than a letter, an address and a time to meet with a name flourished at the bottom. However things were being boring more than normal and so any kind of case was better than none.
Sitting at the little café, Sherlock had ordered coffee, not trusting another cup of tea that hadn’t been prepared by John Watson. No one made tea like John, and therefore no one made it right, other than John. The café was the designated place to meet, the time soon approaching. A man walked up, standing a few feet away from Sherlock’s table. Sherlock smirked slightly as he sipped his coffee and looked up at the man.
“Good evening.” said Sherlock pleasantly. “By the way you’re scanning the crowd, you’re meeting someone that you’ve not met in person before, and by the way you’re standing, you’re ready to run at a split second notice.” said Sherlock nodding to the man. “So tell me Mr. McCrimmon, why should I take your case?”
