A few photos for my current project looking into the folklore and area around yester castle.
Interior of Goblin Hall, Yester Castle in East Lothian, Scotland - said to have been built ca. 1257 with the aid of Goblins (hence the name) as the result of a satanic pact by the owner, Hugo de Gifford (known as the wizard of Yester) with the Devil.
The Wizard of Yester and Goblin Ha', Yester Castle
The original stone keep, built before 1267, is generally considered to be by Sir Hugo de Giffard. A grandson of the first Laird of Yester. Sir Hugo de Giffard was known as the 'Wizard of Yester', and was considered to be a powerful warlock and necromancer. It is in the undercroft of the castle that he was thought to practice his sorcery. 14th century chronicler John of Fordun mentions the large cavern in Yester Castle called Goblin Ha' (Goblin Hall), thought locally to have been formed by magic. Legend says that Hugo was able to raise a magical army to his aid after making a pact with the Devil. The legend also attributes the building of Yester Castle to the hobgoblins.
Sir Hugo served as a guardian of the young Alexander III of Scotland, who was at Yester on and around May 24, 1278, where he corresponded with Edward I of England. Following the Scottish Wars of Independence, Yester was rebuilt as a castle of enceinte.
The castle is located 1.5 miles south-east of the village of Gifford in East Lothian. The only remaining structure is the subterranean Goblin Ha'.

Goblin Ha'/ Yester Castle. Gifford, Scotland 2013.
This castle is outside a little village that I live in, it was apparently built by Goblins summoned by a powerful wizard that was able to communicate with the devil. One of the most haunted places in Britain.
Yester Castle is a ruined castle located south east of the village of Gifford, East Lothian Scotland. The only remaining structure is Goblin Ha' (Goblin Hall). Sir Hugo de Giffard was known to practice his sorcery in the undercroft. He was able to pact with the Devil and raised a magical army, it was this army of Goblins that built the castle.
