Menstrual hygiene is a part of basic health hygiene and one of the most fundamental aspects concerning reproductive health. Every girl child should have the right to such services that would help her maintain her DIGNITY and wellbeing during her menstrual flow. . As we all know and for those who do not know, there are lots of health risks girls are exposed to when using pieces of clothes during menstruation. . Women and girls are at risk of contacting pelvic inflammatory diseases through urine tract if such clothes used are contaminated with fungi or bacteria. Most often the clothes used by some of the girls can easily get wet because they don't absorb like sanitary pads and staying wet for a longer time can easily attract fungus and itching in their private parts. . . . This is why we @rohef_ngo and @ladycare_ng visited some selected schools across Abuja to create awareness on the importance of maintaining good hygiene during and after menstruation. Thanks to @ladycare_ng for distributing over 10,000 free Sanitary pads to the girls and staff of each school. . . Due to non availability of sanitary pads some girls are forced to use unhygienic alternative means during mensuration or skip classes which eventually affects their education. As part of our commitment to support Girl child education, Ray Of Hope Empowerment Foundation (ROHEF) in collaboration with @ladycare_ng visited Government Girls Science School, a boarding school situated in Kuje Area Council of Abuja for a health talk and distribution of free lady Care sanitary pads to students. The staff were not left out either.
