She wasn’t convinced. Her eyes resembled daggers as she focused at his amused face. Did he really think she was going to believe that? Her precious candy. He actually had the nerve to eat them without even asking. Making her way towards him, Krystal tilted her head up slightly. “The way you sound..” She spoke softly, a smile taking over her expression. “You sound like you have something in your mouth, Mark. Care to open up for me?”

11: Who takes care of you?“I take care of me... I mean, yes people visit. My mother, my brother-- but I take care of myself. Like an adult.”

23: Who loves you best?“I guess the required answer for this would be ‘my mother’-- however, if I’m going to be honest... it’s not my mother. Maybe that makes me a horrible person, but she doesn’t love me in the way that I need to be loved. Jovi... loves me in the way that I need. Even if I feel like less of a human being, she’s there to show me that I’m not. It’s not really coddling... it’s a different type of caring. Loving.”

25: What memory aches?“I-- I wouldn’t even consider this a memory because it replay every single time I close my eyes. It was when I worked as an EMT. This little girl had b-been hi.. she had been in a hit and run car crash. Sustained multiple inner and outer injuries. Even with all of that, she was conscious, crying. Crying about her mother who had been flung from the windshield and pronounced dead on the scene. She didn’t know-- but she cried and she cried all the way to the hospital asking for her mother. I froze. I couldn’t do anything that my co-workers asked me because this little girl was dying too. Dying alone without the one person who was already gone. All my memories ache because they all end the same way.”
